She hasn't been around for a month. Now that she's official, she's like, screw you guys, I'm moving to the Wyoming Ritz!

I've no idea what that even is (though of course I've heard of the Ritz-Carlton). *looks it up; from google...*

Riiight ... but yes, I agree: it doesn't sound anywhere near the 5-star experience you'd expect from the Ritz. But, possibly, you might have to spend just as much to stay there. ;)

    Quoting from Google AI:

You can also book The Ritz at Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Of course, neither of these places are as luxurious as the Ritz-Carlton ... but obviously, that's not the point. ;)

A print and media subscription to The Atlantic Monthly. Because it seems to be serving as a beacon of truth in these troubled times, and it would be a shame if I didn't throw a few shekels its way and stop trying to work around its paywall.

I subscribe and receive articles in my inbox daily. First-class journalism, intellectual and factual, and I've learned so much from them. Highly recommended.

I especially love the inscription on the T-shirt. "The Future is Mine". :D

I keep expecting the little doll to start mwa-ha-ha-ing when it says that.

Found a spectacular hellebore today while doing PA work with Marlowe.

    FB_IMG_1743816888776.jpg

Parachute and ball set for indoor enrichment work with Marlowe. He loves this thing.

    FB_IMG_1743816899943.jpg

The stepping stones, like the parachute set I found at work, so it didn't cost the earth and is a fantastic, multifunctional tool.

And the Horrible Toad...I found this on a PA run and have zero regrets. This is one of those things you love or hate. I love this thing. I've had the Congo Red Philodendron for about a year.

No clue. The owners will argue for months about that. Not my department... i just build the machines. All I know is that I need to hire like 50 people. The place is enormous. Like trail of breadcrumbs big. 3 floors, dual kitchens, function spaces, two full bars, at least 10 coolers. I stopped counting after awhile. And because it was a bankruptcy situation, the former owners weren't allowed to take so much as a pencil out of the building with them. It'll take a week to survey the contents.

Doesn't the bankruptcy issue give you pause? Or is it clear that the previous owners somehow created the situation?

Not in this case. Classic owner dingdong syndrome, which is almost always the case. And it was a crappy restaurant that only lasted as long as it did because it's a great building in a prime location. Having said that, we've looked at many properties in the past where previous owners have done everything right and still went out of business. Good restaurants, too. We won't touch those. I can tell just by looking at the finances. If everything is in order and they did everything the way I would have done it, back away slowly.

You sound like you know your business. Someday, God willing and the creek don't rise, I'm going to head out there and try out one of your establishments. With a CWF discount, of course.

Let's hope so. The nut on this one is going to be enormous.

I'll hook you up. The area is great if you've never been (and still is if you have). You can hit New York, Boston, all the beaches, Maine, all the mountains in NH and Vermont, etc. All of it is within like a 6 hour drive radius.
