ANNOUNCEMENT Hello everyone, I hope you have all seen the announcement from @Homer Potvin today: https://www.writingforums.org/threads/were-building-a-new-forum.178426/ I am so excited for this change and as such, am going to be backing up all Roleplay Forum Content. This includes old RPs and every word said in an OOC Thread. Henceforth, I declare a pause on all roleplay games for the time being. The only threads that will be open until MAY 26th will be: The RP Interest Thread The It Began in a Tavern OOC Thread. On the 26th, I will lock all the threads and archive the remainder of the RP Forum. Note also, the Vampire Roleplay WILL be archived, but not reposted on the new forum. This so I have a copy and I can preserve the work of the players. Know what you wrote belongs to you and will never be reposted, but your posts can be requested. Thank you so much for understanding. I look forward to the new adventure ahead.
it's great fun! That, and the story-writing contests on this site, are the best things to ever happen in my writing.
Honest, I would like help with the ooc thread. If ypu would copy and paste what you can. Pages 1-5. That would be awesome. Also, @Homer Potvin, what permission do I have to repost the RP on the new forum? Because dome players have needed to move on or disappeared? Should we actually start over, or write out a character we haven’t gotten permission yo continue with. I know @SoulFire said we could keep using his characters.
Start over the story, you mean? We've already put a lot of work into it so I don't think that's a great idea. We should finish it instead
Work smarter, not harder. You can print each page of the thread to a PDF file! And the text within the pdf will be copy-pastable. It will look a little ugly but it will be much faster to do this page by page.
Agreed. But I am concerned, because we don't have permission for Nassim and reposting his segments feel wrong without written 'okays'.
I don't think there is any issue by keeping working on it here. As I understand, we have until the end of the month unless Daniel specifically shuts it down now on purpose. We should just be careful to keep everything we're doing backed up.
@ps102 and @Louanne Learning I have the PDF of the OOC Thread pages. This Print Save thing is amazing. I thought it was going to take ages.
just make sure you can copy the text off them again, we aren't going to want a bunch of embedded pdfs for file size and server load reasons
Yep! I still want to try and archive by post. But it's REALLY long. I need to get a proper PDF viewer as my adobe subscription ran out. Also, did the same with the Lore Discussion and locked it, so at worst, I will only need to add to the OOC archive. So, any non-official post can go to the OOC thread.
Okay, so I got page 1 of the OOC thread copied and pasted in a Word document - I guess I do not have to continue.
I was trying to go post by post. But also, there is SO much to copy-paste. I got a bit overwhelmed by it all. What I am planning to do is get the PDFs, then copy from them into single post formats. For example, this is what I was doing: Do you want me to continue or just rely on the PDFs I have created from the threads?
Most browsers have built-in PDF readers, and pretty decent ones at that. Firefox serves me well in that regard.
I hope someone can help us answer this question. As long as we are able to see this content on the new site.
