Right now I'm reading 1984 by George Orwell. It's my second time reading it, but first real time, seeing as the last time I read it I was a sophomore in high school and didn't pay very much attention; I rushed through it. Now I'm reading it slowly and taking it all in. I love Orwell's writing. I plan on rereading Animal Farm sometime soon, too.

I've just finished Jane Austen's Persuasion and have to say that I actually enjoyed it. Might start on Mansfield Park later.

Today I read Silk by Alessandro Barrico. Gorgeous writing with a surprising twist at the end. Short enough to read in an hour.

Right now, I'm reading Impulse by Ellen Hopkins.

    I'm currently looking for:
-Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions by Edwin A Abbott.
-A really good philosophy book. I'm thinking either Thus Spoke Zarathrustra by Friedrich Nietzche or The Sickness Unto Death by Soren Kierkegaard. -It's a shame the fine art of philosophy has lost its popularity over the centuries.

    Kelley Armstrong - Broken

Only picked it up today, and I haven't had much of a chance to get into it yet. However it looks like my sort of book, and the opening has been good.

I got the new Terry Pratchett book AND the new Neil Gaiman book on the same day, my bookshelf practically exploded from the awesome. So this weekend, on my eight-hour bus trip for the coolest marching band competition of the year, I will be reading Nation and The Graveyard Book.

I'm currently rereading an old Victoria Holt novel called Lord of the Far Island. I may be the only person left in the world reading Victoria Holt, but darn it, I won't give her up! :)

    The witches of Chiswick
    By Robert Rankin.

One Hundred Years of Solitude- Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Just started it so I can't comment so far but I just finished Trance State by John Case which was not a bad thriller. It was about mind control and the scientific terminology was not too confusing. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5.

I just finished reading my favorite book of all time: Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson.

My father introduced the book to me and I've faithfully read it every year since then. I love how much emotion Paterson pours into the book.....well worth reading again and again.

Currently reading, and learning a great deal from:

The Art of Fiction - by Ayn Rand

The Wikipedia entry does a pretty good job at quoting some of the best points she makes.

This book, along with On Writing by Stephen King and Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott, are great resources for young writers. Highly recommended!

Scott Smith's A Simple Plan. Great stuff. I never saw the movie, would you believe, so I can enjoy the book all the more.

I'm currently reading Court of the Air by Stephen Hunt ... ... it's ok. Feel like I've been thrown overboard without so much as a rubber ring to aid flotation but... we'll see - I'm a good swimmer ;)
