    1. What compels me to write? Mm, words. Words mushed together to form a sentence or paragraph about something is what compels me to write.

    2. So I can sleep at night.

    3. I like it... I like romance. I read a lot of romance and I like it when two people fall in love. It's cute.

    4. When people started to say, "Wow, you're pretty good at this". It went to my head and now I have papers everywhere with ideas, short stories, post-it notes with poems about buckets everywhere in my room.

    5. Romance. Duh. And some free-write poems.

    What compels you to write?

I’ve pondered on this question many times over, especially after I try to write and only end up discarding what I’ve written because I don’t see a purpose for it. Often the things I write I write for my self, never meant to be seen by others, my own thoughts on paper. I supposed I’m compelled to write because it is my escape into my self, my journey of self awareness and understanding of what is around me, or what inspires me.

    Why do you write?

I write because it keeps me sane and center, because it allows me to escape into worlds I can control, because writing gives me purpose.

What makes you write what you write?

I’m motivated by what I read and see. The motivation can come from anything even depression and personal experiences, or books I read, people I meet or people I want to be.

What made you decide you liked to write?

It has never been a decision for me it is more like a part of me. Writing is like oxygen, it helps me breath. Writing is like food for my mind which I need. It is the exercise my finger’s workout and it must be consistent to be effective, therefore it is very much a part of my essence...Unconsciously the verdict was made long before I had any say in the choice to write.

    What Do You Write?

I guess, I write fiction, if we have to give it a genre. I enjoy historic fiction and mythology and futuristic settings and strange alien worlds as well as the dark elements that we cannot explain. When I write it is often tapping into one of these settings.

    What compells you to write?
Meeting my deadline and having a topic, scentence or scene float around in my head until I let it out.

    Why do you write?
To share a vanishing lifestyle with interested readers, pass on the odd nugget of knowledge, and to make money.

What makes you write what you write?
Things that interest me, that I think might interest other people, that I feel passionate about, and most of all that I have a relatively sound knowledge about.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
The feeling inside that said "hey this is fun", that I live without road access and have no way of holding down a normal job, and that I'm able to make an income this way.

    What Do You Write?
Non-fiction about living in Canada's wilderness.

    What compells you to write?
I don't know. I get ideas in my head and then I always want to write them down and play around a bit. It's an excuse to spend time imagining things, even as an adult.

    Why do you write?
I can't imagine not writing. I've been writing since I was about ten years old.

What makes you write what you write?
I usually write fantasy stories, and like I said before, it gives me an opportunity to play around in my imagination.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
When I was in second grade my teacher selected my story to be published in the school literary magazine. I am still unsure if she was being nice or if she really thought I had talent, but ever since then I wrote because I liked doing it and thought I was maybe kind of good at it.

    What Do You Write?
Fiction. Recently it's been fantasy, but I've written other genres as well.

    What compells you to write?
A need to release emotions and thoughts or a challange given by a friend or teacher.

    Why do you write?
I write to release emotions and thoughts and also to see the way it makes others feel. When I can complete a challange for a friend they tell me what it means to them or that it affected them one way or another; this is neat for me.

What makes you write what you write?
I like to write stuff that draws on relateable human emotions because it causes a reaction in people and I like to know that something I created produced a reaction.

What made you decide you liked to write?
Realizing that it was a talent I had and that I could use the words I wrote to express myself at a new level and connect with people.

    What do you write?
I write really anything that I'm inspired to... fantasy, romance, dark, realism... anything.

    What compells you to write?
An inner voice that says to me that I need to do it.

    Dreams......

    Why do you write?
To share an image or story, to get a thought out on paper, to express who I am and what my dreams are to another. To show just how much I care.

What makes you write what you write?
The beauty alone is enough to make me write it, but also the desire to be understood and have my images seen.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
I have always enjoyed it on some level, as I got older and penned a few things I realized the joy I had by putting these scenes and images down where I could read them. The pure emotion I have while actually doing the writing.

    What Do You Write?
Well here I have written a couple poems, that is new to me. Most of what I actually spend time on is erotica I suppose. Though nothing like what you have read before, I am not into vulgar writings. Think nude art vs. pornography, and you'll be close.

I also on occasion dabble in fantasy, I love the idea of swords and magic.

    Why do I write?
Hmm, that is a very good question. I write because it is something to do. I suddenly will think of something and think, hey, that'd make a good story. Then it doesn't get finished....but still, I have fun writing what I do write. I write because people tell me I'm good at it. It's kind of a strange question isn't it? I mean, why does someone act or paint or sing? Why don't Apple Jacks taste like apples? They just do.
I suppose that's my answer, so please don't kill me if someone else has already said it.

What compells you to write?: Nothing really compells me to write. I love to write. When a good story pops into my head, it has to be written.
Why do you write?: I write because I'm good at it (for my age at least), and I enjoy it. A lot of students my age think that loving to write is strange, but that doesn't stop me.
What makes you write what you write?: The books I read. Sometimes I take ideas from a book here and there and twist them into my own plots. Recently, I've been writing about the same characters and their lives; I don't want to let them go, so I think that someday I may write a book series about them.
What Made you decide you liked to write?: I don't really know. I've always loved to tell stories, even before I learned how to read. I want my stories to get the credit they deserve, so I write.
What Do You Write?: Fantasy, mostly, but I've written General Ficton before. My fantasy stories are normally about the same characters, though.

I also listen to classical music but I mostly listen to vivaldi and handel. I find it soothing esp. at work with everything swirling around me.

    What compells you to write?
    I have 'scenes' running through my head, like 'visions' of characters. for example during a car ride an entire story unfolds through my head. i should probably be thinking about more important things. or i could be on the school bus, or even in the middle of class. it's been happening to me since i was really little, like 6~7 years old. im not quite sure why it happens and i think it's strange. anyway, yeah i figured i better write these scenes down ^^;

    Why do you write?
whenever i write a really good story and i come back to it, that feeling of happiness is just amazing. it really makes the hard work worth it. also, i get to express the things that are happening in my head so i dont forget them.

What makes you write what you write?
    see above (the 'visions')

What Made you decide you liked to write?
see question 2 (it makes me happy)

    What Do You Write?
    humor stories and fanfiction.

Basically I think I write because I've always had visions in my head of stories, like a film constantly playing over and over. And I've always needed to get them onto something concrete. Paper, documents, something tangible, etc. etc.

    Why do you write?

I love it. I love everything about it and i don't think i could stop if i wanted to.

    What Do You Write?

anything that comes to mind, currently i'm trying to write nothing but short stories, that way i'd actually finish a story or two in my life time.
Currently it's mostly serial killer tales, don't ask me why.

What makes you write what you write?

    Beats me.

I think my inspiration mainly comes from reading. Usually the style i'm writing in incorporates techniques used in whatever i'm reading at the time.

I also like to write because often write stories about things that have happened to me. Almost like an autobiography but modified sometimes to make them more interesting.

I like to write because it. like music, gives me a way to vent my emotions, thoughts, and feelings.

A lot of my stories are just ideas that I come up with in my head, and I can't stand to not let them out somehow.

    What compells you to write?
The ideas just come rushing into my head, and I would go crazy if I didn't get them out.

    Why do you write?
    It's my escape.

What makes you write what you write?
I always connect the moral to myself, and what makes it meaningful to me. Therefore, I can make it compel others as well.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
It's actually a pretty cool story. I got my story professionally edited when I was eight- I kept at it ever since.

    What Do You Write?
Novels (realistic and supernatural), Scripts (realistic) and sometimes songs.

    What compels you to write?
The fact that it helps me deal with stress better than most things. If I can't go snowboard or a good drive, I just write and write.

    Why do you write?
To have a better understanding of how I feel and to put down on paper the things I would love to see on the screen, big or small.

What makes you write what you write?
Taking what I already love (cars or snowboarding) and writing it into my own world and creating the people and situations that I've experienced plus a little more.

What made you decide you liked to write?
I picked up my brothers Screenwriting for Dummies book in my house when I was home for the holidays and read the first 30 pages and finally felt like this is the best way for me to tell my stories. Since I've started writing I haven't been able to stop.

    What do you Write?
I'm currently into television writing (original pilots and a few spec scripts) but have jotted down a few feature film ideas I've had in mind. Most of these plots revolve around something close to me, family, cars, snowboarding, skateboarding, college, parties.

What compells you to write? Why do you write? What makes you write what you write?

These three questions are essentially asking the same thing. Namely, what need is satisified by writing? This is the need to bring some order to one's own thinking and feelings, to understand them, to come to terms with them.

    What do you write?

In the genre I find most engaging, crime.

What made you decide you liked to write?

An interest in the shadier aspects of human experience.

    What compells you to write?
The idea that someone will listen.

    Why do you write?
For me at least, I am only as real as other's perceive me.
For others to perceive me, I must tell them about myself.
So unless I write, others will not see me.

What makes you write what you write?
The will to be real to others.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
I loved the concept of writing instantly.
For me writing was like a secret code that could be deciphered to tell others about stuff without ever seeing them.

    What Do You Write?
I write about these people I meet and things that people can learn about.

    What compells you to write?
I love to write, it's one of my great hobbies where I can constantly express myself privately, as well as letting others enjoy it without revealing much about myself.

    Why do you write?
Sometimes it said that the things you decide to do in life should be things that you enjoy. I think this is largely true, as I greatly enjoy writing. I am also told some of the things I write are literary genius, or that I am a 'wordsmith', and having things that I work on complimented makes me feel all warm and fuzzy :p

What makes you write what you write?
I have lots of interest in Fantasy genres. In my opinion, they're the greatest things to write, because you can create weird concepts, completely new planets and rewrite the laws of physics. Because of the ability to change reality when you write fantasy, people will not judge you for it, and you can become the creator, or God if you will, of a world not so well known, or you can even re-model Earth. The possibilities are limitless, which I find can be like art. In art, you can paint whatever you want as an expression of yourself, but some genres are limited, and fantasy is not.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
I've never been able to write a short story, and anything I wrote would normally be quite long. Whilst I would fail a task if it was a short story, because I would end up writing 30 pages but took longer than the given time to write it, I enjoyed writing it. I find it an expression of myself, and it lets me express myself and my views and such, as well as being able to make something new and unheard of. It's a great outlet for me, and one of the few things I still enjoy doing.

    What Do You Write?
Normally Fantasy, but I use writing to display my views. People tend not to listen to me when I speak, though I'm told I'm a good speaker too. But when I'm writing, people will not zone out because I drone on or because they don't like my voice, perhaps. So if people do not understand what I say, I can write a story to point out how I feel, like I recently wrote a love story, titled, "My Personal Definition of Perfect." It basically was a story where a person met the perfect partner, and that the main character's definition of perfect had nothing to do with sex, and though people tended not to understand it, what he desired became a truth when he met the perfect partner that loved him for who he was, and they both preferred it the way it was. Though a bit more complex than that, I might end up posting it on here one day. It was a short story of about 4 and a half pages worth.

I usually start writing on a whim, because I had a small idea, usually from a dream, that i'd like to dwell on or expand.
The more I think about the scenario of that dream or idea, the more plot holes get ironed out and the nicer it seems.
