That's similar to something i want to do. I want to read the novel Battle Royale to see what it's like. I saw it in a bookstore about a year ago but never got it so i might have a look.
Inkdeath, third in the Inkheart series by Cornelia Funke, AMAZING book, thought not quite as good as Inkspell ,but close, very close (the series is Inkheart, Inkspell, Inkdeath by the way, its a really good series, the first is really good, and the second two are way better)
I'm reading Toll the Hounds by Steven Erikson, the eight book in the Malazan Book of the Fallen series and Darkly Dreaming Dexter...
I've just started one called The Ghost Child, although I cannot remember who it is by. It is about some abused child, and the physichologist tries to find out whats wrong with her and stuff. It's not the usual thing I'd read as I don't like things too depressing, but I've borrowed it off a friend after she insisted.
I purchased this book a few weeks ago..something about it just seemed different. I haven't picked it up yet to read, but how do you find it so far?
I'm back at school studying for an English major, so I'm reading all kinds of books right now. I'm blazing through Richard Wright's Black Boy, which I read in 9th grade but I enjoy much more now; also a collection of naturalistic essays collected by David Barnhill which is pretty cool. For a psych course I'm reading Frederick Douglass's autobiography -- it's pretty incredible to read about slavery at the same time as some post slavery African American lit. For a Tibetan religion course, I'm reading "The life of Milarepa," which tells the story of one of their greatest saints. Basically, a whole lot of really cool stuff.
I'm reading The Life Of Pi by Yann Martel, which is very interesting; he has a unique, meandering style of writing. The odd chapter here and there about how to run a zoo and the difference between two and three toed sloths.
For school I just finished readin Ethan Frome and am moving on to the Great Gatsby. For fun, I just finished Sense and Sensibility (again) about 5 seconds ago, and am starting Les Miserables (yay!)
Currently reading Magician (from Raymond E. Fiest's Riftwar Saga) Only just started after getting it for christmas, reading it because his Empire Trilogy was just fantastic
My Current foray into the reading realm is through Kate Morton's The Forgotten Garden and Bill Bryson's A Walk In The Woods. The latter has had me literally laughing out loud whilst reading...highly amusing!
I've just finished At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft. I love that man! I've started The Fall of the House of Usher and Other Writings a collection of poems and short stories by Edgar Allen Poe.
This week's books: Just finished The Contortionist's Handbook by Craig Clevenger...excellent, excellent read. Almost done with World War Z by Max Brooks - great book. I usually read multiple books at one time, but I started this one today and couldn't put it down. Didn't think it'd be my kind of book, but I enjoyed the heck out of it. Both of those books are among the best I've read in a long while. The Bridge Across Forever/Richard Bach - don't ask me why - lol. I've started it. Kinda sappy. Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson - started this, will get back to it tonight. I'm told it's a wonderful story. After those it's The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien (a series of related short stories, I think?), which came highly recommended and Hood, by Stephen R. Lawhead (reimagined Robin Hood).
I am reading Dune by Frank Herbert for the 3rd time it's one of my favorites, and starting Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Phillip K. Dick havent gotten that far yet.
I just finished Sideways By Rex Pickett and man is he a great writer. I loved this book. This book is not an easy read for everyone. Rex Pickett has a Vocabulary the size of the Atlantic ocean and he shows it quite often. So much in fact it even prompts Jack to tell Miles to "Stop going Webster on me". I been known to have a really good vocabulary and I defiantly felt inferior reading this. It is still an awesome book though, and worth reading, even if you've seen the movie all ready. Right now though I have a little bit to finish up on Rage by Stephen King, as well as finishing A Walk To Remember By Nicholas Sparks and Heart-Shaped Box By Joe Hill. After reading those, I'm going to be delving into: Frankenstein Dracula and possibly The Stand
I'm in the middle of reading Sexing the Cherry by Jeanette Winterson. This tale hops, skips and jumps around the imagination like a frenzied rabbit - I adore it!
Now i am reading the novel 'Battle Royale' by Koushun Takami. Should be interesting to see how it translates, as i've seen the film adaptation, which i don't like doing before reading stuff most of the time.
Wizard and Glass, book 4 of The Dark Tower. I'm not a Stephen King fan, but I'm enjoying TDT. Then I'm moving on to Matter, by Iain M. Banks.
A Clash of Kings by George Martin, Book 2 of A Song of Ice and Fire Its such an amazing story in one of the most diverse fantasy worlds I've ever come across. There are so many interesting characters.
I'm reading two at the moment. The Sherlock Holmes Collection - Read about 3/4 of the short stories and they are great! Also reading Russell Brand's My Booky Wooky. It's not going to go down in history as one of the greats but is easy and amusing reading.
Hi Guys, I am reading Twilight at the moment. Well, I just finished the 4th book. I actually watched the movie first and loved it. In fact, im about of a geek, and have watched it about 8 times, and its not even out the pictures yet. Anyway, moving on. I decided to buy the books, and I have to say, the film is good, but doesn't have a speck on the books. I actually cried at the end of the last book Stephanie Meyer is such a great writer and I love her work. I am abit upset that they left alot of the things I loved most about the book, out of the movie. Me and my friend went to watch it again after reading the book, and we didn't shut up all the way through the screening. But the movie was alright. I love Robert as Edward, but they could have picked someone better for Bella, as I cant see Kristen Stewart playing Bella's role very good in the other 3 movies. I didnt like who they picked for Jacob as well. They should have picked Steven Strait for that, hands down. But still, it turned out good... I guess! Anyway, sad as I am, I am now reading Twilight again from the beginnging. Anyone who hasn't read these books, I give them a thumbs up! Go read em! lol xxx
I've just started Mothstorm by Philip Reeve, the third in the Larklight series. They're amazing, make me laugh so much.
