Being able to laugh at yourself and know that it's perfectly fine because nobody is going to judge you for it!!

Even if your discussion is concerning a fictitious Vulcan from another time and place. :D

Watching cats and dogs makes me all soft and warm on the inside, much like babies do to 30 year old women.

The pitter-patter of the rain against the windowpane. And its smell.

The roller-coaster kinda feeling I get when I'm getting to the end of a piece I'm writing.

Travelling in an empty bus through my beloved city of Buenos Aires.

Reading a good short story in my bed before I fall asleep.

Starbucks caramel macchiato in a cold winter day.

Breaking my length record for word count, which makes my novel a much more publishable length than it was before.

My small group of friends. ~ Birthday cards with silly music. ~ Driving to Seattle at night w/a friend when the rain is coming down so hard but you barely notice because the music is playing so loud.

Little reminders that there are honest people still in the world. One of our local homeless people came in last week asking for some help getting her bike fixed as it was only means of getting around. The pastor gave her $20 to take the bike to the shop to get the chain and tire fixed. She came back in just now to return the $8 change because "it wouldn't be right to keep it if they only charged me 12." This is someone who needs those $8, but returned it because it as the honest, right thing to do. Of course, the pastor let her keep the $8 and sent her on her way with a blessing. I am left feeling blessed too that I got to witness such honesty.

People who perform random acts of kindness. There is nothing that makes me feel better than giving it, and it's incredibly nice to be on the receiving end as well. :)

Random things that make me happy?

Kittens and blue skies. Also, I'm always more happy when it's summer time.

    Hot chocolate.
My daughter said the other day that it was great winter was coming because I always make hot chocolate for myself and the kids when I get in from work. But she said it was better in the 'old days' when we had no money after the bankruptcy, because we used to huddle under a fluffy blanket together (no money for the oil-fired central heating) and drink it, watching a dvd from the library (no money for cable TV then) or talking about what we'd done that day. Funny how my worst nightmare days are their happy childhood memories...

Cloudy days and rain. That's probably why I'm in a good mood right now: it's been raining nonstop all day. :D
