Dan got an email from Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine today stating that his Bunyip story is going to be the feature story for issue #43! THey have even done artwork for it! I am really excited and can't wait till it is put together and we get to see the book sitting on our bookshelf. The editor said, and I quote from the email: How awesome is that?
Reading an interesting, new book really makes me happy. Never makes me feel like I'm wasting daylight. And that's how my day went today.
Heather, I loved that book when I read it. It made me cry, and so did the Sebold's memoir, too. And I havent seen the movie, but I've been told that it hardly does the true text story justice. I'm happy because I finished watching Harry Potter 6. This was a good day, as far as January 1st, 2010 goes.
I am happy because I emailed the breastfeeding association today about Tobin and got some fantastic advice from them. Also because today Tobin is 2 months old.
I'm happy because it's snowed again and we've now had snow on the garden for 17 DAYS STRAIGHT! How cool is that?
Ack! I could never have the guts to do that. I'm happy that I didn't have to walk my dog in the cold this morning.
I have a great night with great friends planned. Leaving tonight to go see Sherlock Holmes with three amaaazzzingggg friends.
a) Monday night I slept twelve solid hours. Booyah. b) My uncle gave me a bacteria culture kit for Christmas. Booyah. I am such a science geek. Then again, my friend Amy has been given fetal pigs for Christmas to dissect, so I'm not so weird. Well, compared to my friend. c) School starts Monday! I am happy about that. Maybe I am so weird. d) I have five DVDs of old Bonanza episodes, so I get to watch cheesy westerns whenever I feel like it. e) My cousin Elliot wore a bright pink tie to the Christmas Eve service at my granddad's church. And his shoes have hot pink and neon green shoelaces. f) My dear mother, who actually understands most of my quirks, gave me bright blue socks with penguins on them. g) My hammy is SO STINKIN' CUTE! h) My dear mother makes good turkey soup. i) I may have found another penpal who will actually write back to me in aforementioned cousin Elliot. Aforementioned friend Amy does, and my grandma does, but no one else. j) I made my great-grandpa a pillow out of a super-bright latch hook rug, and he loved it. I like making him happy. k) Said great-grandpa kisses my hand when I say goodbye like a medieval knight dude. He's got to be the most gallant male of my acquaintance, and he's 95 or 96. The current generation fails hugely in that regard. And I'm part of it, so please don't get ticked at me for saying that. l) My happy box is decently full. m) I've gotten to point m in a post about things I'm happy about. n) Tuesday, when I was in a sad, self-pitying mood, feeling all lonely and all, my awesome friend Madelynn called me out of the blue and cheered me up. She's so wunnerful, and her nickname is Kevin. Beat that. o) My brother can drive now. p) My dear mother bought me five books out of the blue. Nice thick books I wanted, too. q) My cousin gave me a t-shirt that says "Haikus are easy, But sometimes they don't make sense. Refrigerator." r) My grandma, who is one of my two penpals, gave me a big gift bag full of stationery and envelopes and notecards and stickers and such like for Christmas. s) Two of my friends handmade me Christmas gifts. I really love handmade things - they have a touch nothing else quite manages. t) My brother, who is very hard to shop for, liked his Christmas presents. u) I'm sewing a cape for the wearing of just for fun. Beautiful fabrics. v) I''m fourteen and starting calculus this month. Go math mom! w) My dear mother bought me the piano music for "Love Story" and "Viva la Vida." Very cool music. x) I get to do math with other math-geeky homeschool friends on Tuesday. y) I wrote a decent poem last night when I couldn't sleep. I can almost never write late at night, but it was after eleven (late for me, 'k?) and I think it's all right. z) I made it to the end of the alphabet in a happy post! I could go on, but this is too long. My apologies. Cheers, lavendershy
If you haven't already got an eyebrow peircing, don't. I did and it grew out within a month. Now I have a lovely little scar there, which I like to tell people was a bite mark from a terribly ferocious Hamster (They all believed me! hah!)
I'm happy becuase it's Sunday tommorow - which means - school starts Monday. I need something to do with my hands...
I'm almost done sewing my trench coat. I'm working on the hem, which, because it is a coat, is a lot more complex than you would think. I still have to do some buttons, but I'm going to have to take it to a sewing teacher in class because my machine's not well equipped to handle a project of this size. It's my biggest project to date because I had to create the original coat and then another coat of lining, and most of it is done quite differently from other garments. Anyway, so I'm proud that it's nearly done because I've never finished anything this big before, and it really looks nice. I wore it in to class a few weeks ago and people were asking me where I'd purchased it. The highest compliment to an amateur seamstress.
Once I finish the hem and figure out the button situation, I will most definitely show off my pretty coat. I'm finishing up the hem tomorrow, and I imagine I'll finally get the buttons on by... Tuesday at the latest, I'm hoping. I guess another reason I'm proud of it is that it looks fairly similar to one I had when I was younger but outgrew (and personally, I think this one looks better). I miss it very much, so deciding to make a copy has been a very rewarding, if challenging, experience. Edit: Just saw your post Heather, and NO WAY. This coat has been something I've been working on since October. While I'm fond of how it's turned out, I will never ever make one again. Amateur seamstresses, I'm learning, need a lot of time (more time than I had originally anticipated; my goal had been to finish it in November, so I could wear it this winter) to finish big projects like this one.
*cries* Ok... *sniffle* I guess...I understand. Seriously, I'm excited to see it. It must be a great feeling, finishing something like that!
He is just like my pastor. It's creepy. Same name. They wore the same outfit today. Same hair style. It's creepy. I like him though. New John (NJ, as we're calling him.) is nice. On a side note, I got a tutor for my lack of math skills to bring up my ACT score!!
