Its gotta be either Fantasy or Sci-Fi, but I read fantasy more often so I guess that would be it.

I like historical and fantasy, but my favourite is humor (and if it has elements of fantasy, even better).

    Where's poetry? D:

I generally stick to classics, poetry, and science fiction. I also read a lot of scientific non-fiction texts. I dislike most literature written after the 40s, and I only like a very limited amount of sci-fi. Homer, Ovid, Sophocles, and Milton are basically my idols.

(So many people voting for fantasy...I despise fantasy :()

i guess what i like could be considered existential sci-fi. none of the cliche cornyness & all of the realistic, brutal human frailty of real life

My favorite genre (which by the way doesn't appears on the poll) is well-written books. Seriously, I just can't get enough of them.

    Ehh...too hard to choose.

I usually like action, sci-fi, or fantasy with a hint of romance and a spoonful of angst.

I like to read science fiction and realistic fiction, and I like for there to be a little romance in those as well. You can't have a male and a female together without adding a love scene once!

Fantasy, but science fiction would indeed be a close second.

Military novels, preferably personal accounts. For my money, there is absolutley nothing better.
Some of my favorites include Lone Survivor, One Bullet Away, Shooter (not the Marky Mark movie), and Black Hawk Down among many others.

I love reding Horror or Fantasy/Science Fiction.

For me, Horror books are best when describing a real-life situation that we can relate to. That really gets the senses tingling.

Fantasy/Science-Fiction broadens my mind and gets you thinking about the big questions in life.

    Also, I enjoy them :)

I already voted so I won't bother recording my vote... but.... I am amazed that so many fantasy fans are on this website. I mean, this isn't a strictly fantasy website...

Yes, but it is a popular genre for new writers. I have some thoughts about why, but I don't think this is a good place to get into that.

I love historical novels hat get very up close and personal with the main character (as opposed to focusing on some historical moment) and that include some romance. 'As Meat Loves Salt', 'Cry to Heaven' and 'Ramses: Son of Light' are some good examples. The character has to be somone I can sympathies with or relate to, though. I'm pretty picky, haha.

Nonfiction IMO. Cuz it's real life. :)

But other than that I'm not really that picky.

I'm a Sci-Fi guy. Mostly the stuff that delves into the psyche of the character(s). Sci-Fi, at least, the good kind, has a very strong psychological element to it.
Otherwise, I like Stephen King, so probably horror/thrillers, and general dark stuff.
    Dark Tower ftw!

I love comedy books, written by funny people (i.e., "I Am America, and So Can You!" by Stephen Colbert :p) that I LOVE.
