It helps if you have a snooze button or something to wake you up, but not that much. Like a cell phone vibration! That's what I use. I often don't even remember turning it off, and I get to control the last part of my dream before I get up? Good deal!

Last week I dreamt I was somewhere outside, and suddenly I saw a tornado coming (I have dreams about tornadoes quite frequently, so that's not weird, lol) and together with a bunch of kids (no idea if they were siblings or not) I ran to a tornado shelter.
We made it there just in time, and it passed over us. After that I remember seeing that it had hailed, like really big hail. Everything was covered under it... it was getting pretty dark outside, and suddenly I found myself running through a forest with a bunch of guys (I was a guy too, lol) and in the darkness of the forest the ice crystals that were covering everything lit up pink and purple in the distance and almost looked like flowers...
Then, suddenly the forest came to an end and it seemed we had stumbled on train tracks. A couple of guys were standing next to it and told us to get of the tracks, they looked like they were from the army or something. Then the train came, and because we had been standing on the tracks they told us we had to join them. So we got on the train and they took us to another city.
There was gonna be a ritual performed (sacrificing a little golden calf to their Gods- done on a really weird way- There were huge rocks that were kind of v-shaped, narrow on the bottom and wider on the top, and you had to try to climb on them. The only problem was, that the rocks were moving, so you had to get on before they'd slide under some kind of ledge and you'd fall off, and if you got on you had to throw the calf into the air and it would somehow get into the hands of the gods).
Anyway, so they decided that because I was a newbie there I had to perform the ritual. But I didn't manage to climb on the rocks and so someone else had to do it. All I remember after that was that they were laughing at me because I couldn't do it, and that was it. :p

@Newguy, I usually am too conscious by that point. lol If my alarm goes off then I am half asleep thinking about how I need to wake up. Being woken up by Fur Elise is nice though. :)

@Lydia, I used to have dreams about tornadoes ALL the time! Maybe because I lived in Oklahoma for ten years? lol

The part about the ice crystals sounds totally awesome! I wish I could see that IRL. haha I've never had a dream where I was a guy.. I don't think I have anyways.

I've recently seen all ten seasons of Stargate SG1 and now I'm watching all the seasons of Stargate Atlantis (I should perhaps preface this by saying I'm a huge nerd).

So naturally, I had a dream last night that I was in the Stargate universe and engaged in mortal combat with a terrible enemy. I was the leader of a team, there was actually a small army of us on an offworld site.

Of course the enemy did not play fair and became immune to our weapons midway through combat (they have a habit of doing that), like Kirk I don't like unbeatable enemies. Samantha Carter was there and I consulted with her on a possible solution to our weapons not working.

My immediate solution was...bigger guns, in so many words. She concurred.
    :D

It was such a goofy but awesome dream, except for the scary part when our weapons stopped working though.

I had a bizarre dream last night. The landscape looked dystopic to me and kind of familiar in some weird way. There was a small group of people there and someone was poisoning all of them. They had eaten something and nearly all of them were vomiting violently. I was feeling kinda sick myself because I'm squeamish about puke and I wasn't sure what to do to help. I felt awful that these people were so terribly sick and I couldn't help them. :(

I had quite a few dreams last night. But this one is just... wtf? kind of thing.

I was out in some field or something near a city. I noticed that there was something shimmering and then a white light that sorta floated around. Everyone thought I was crazy and eventually that White Light came down and it was this egg. It was light and sorta seemed to defy gravity. I even remember throwing it and it just sorta glided around as if there was no gravity. I get this idea that I needed to take this ostrich egg thing somewhere.

Next thing I know I am in a different city and the egg was confiscated saying it was to dangerous. Of course then Peter Griffin gets all giant and is running around the city laughing. Why? I don't know! Anyways I find the egg only its been cut in half. I look inside it and there is grated cheese in it. Why? *shrugs* anyways I see this Giant Bird thing and flying around and I am determined to take it to this place. So I open these doors to what looked like some sort of old church.

Inside are a bunch of chairs, 2 on this stage thing, and a projector. A bunch of believers follow us in and the Bird... well now there were actually 2. Sit down in the chairs on he stage thing. He talks and decides to show us a film.

What was the film? Apparently it was either deleted scenes or behind the scenes from... one of the Matrix movies(Revolutions I think) I look behind me and Keanu Reeves is sitting back there looking like Neo. Yeah.

The film showed what looked like this desert place with a river. On this river was a guy in a boat and helicopter. The helicopter blades were tilted and were cutting right through this guys head.(if you seen Resident Evil and that laser hallway. looked like that actually)

For some reason I decide to push back and in slow motion I look around and these believers were having their own head cut up like this. The Giant bird, no looking like a human turns to me and I think questions whether or not I am a believer.

Next thing I know I am running out of there wondering how the hell did I let this happen? Why didn't I listen to any of the warnings? All the while I was thinking "I will never be safe. That Bird thing is going to track me down and kill me!"

Which is when I woke up.

Also another dream I had last night was really odd. Not nearly as odd as that one. I was in some cafeteria place and this kid was taking a lighter or something and pressing the small flame to his skin. He managed 12 seconds or something. Then another kid decides he can break that. As the flame is touching his skin(not exactly sure if it was a lighter or what really) and they start counting slowly. 1... 2... 3... 4... and when they get past 12 they start counting realy fast. 30 seconds later or so he pulls it away happy that he lasted 30 seconds or something.

    ...

There is another dream I had but I don't really remember anything about it except weh ad to kill a Wood Troll and something to do with needing Talcum Powder. o_O

For some strange reason, I can never really remember my dreams. I know some last a while and some are short. But despite their duration, I can never remember them in the morning! It's so strange....

Just remember some short bit that was really weird. Talking to strange people and one of them was into building. He saw something like a board with a hole in it and he said he wanted to take the hole out of the board. I think he said something like he want to buy the hole to put into his own board.

I dunno just weird and backward.

I had a horrible nightmare last night. I think I chipped a tooth last night so of course my dream involved my teeth falling out. Well it started with one tooth chipping and then more of my teeth started to chip and sorta fell out and then I could just reach in my mouth and yank them out.

    It was horrible. :(

I used to always dream of my teeth falling out! its always so real....
, which is what i hate about them

I actually had one the other night when i just started playing with them and, oh look, it came out!

It was a double feature, because it was one of my end of world dreams. So common.

I've recently started having terrible nightmares. I wake up to one every morning. I never used to remember my dreams at all, let alone have nightmares like this.

Very scary :( Most of them involve my family dying or normal, everyday situations that seem very "Alice in Wonderland," off and grotesque and terrifying.

yikes, Jack, I'm sorry you're having such horrible nightmares. :( Generally when I shift my sleep schedule I will start having more dreams; when I get into a regular schedule I cant remember them anymore. Maybe if you give it time, they will go away?

    xx

I dont remember my dream last night, but I guess it had something to do with the hospital. Because when I woke up, my body was awake but my mind definitely wasnt, haha. When I woke up I knew I was in my room and everything but I was absolutely certain that I was about to undergo surgery and needed to go back to sleep so they could operate on me. So I laid back down and closed my eyes.

I woke up for real about two hours later. :D

Ooh, yikey. Nightmares can be horrible, huh guys? I used to have wicked bad nightmares about wolves chasing me down and attacking me. They were terrible. I'd wake up shaking like a leaf.

Those dreams are gone now though, thank goodness.

And I don't even know why I had those dreams. It's so weird because I never once saw a wolf in my life.

Yeah I hope so. It's just scary 'cause those have started along with about a week or so of constant depression/suicidal thoughts and a few fits of crying, both of which are very extreme and not normal for me. I keep hoping it'll get better but it only seems to be getting worse.

Good thing you went back to sleep for your surgery XD

Gosh, I haven't had a nightmare for about a year. And I can't even remember that one.

I did dream last Wednesday that my six-month old niece could talk to me. Not in perfect sentences mind you, but it was a little creepy and delightful at the same time. I guess I'm excited she's growing up, the cute thing.

I usually never remember my dreams, even though I wake up and am aware that they were long, short, etc. I actually agree with Mercurial. Shifting a sleeping schedule causes me to have more dreams, and some of the time I do remember them, creepy and all. I have a pretty normal schedule now, and it doesn't shift much, even if I have or don't have anything to do the following morning.

I hope you have sweet dreams tonight, Jack. :)

Jack try to see this as a 'blip' because depressive thoughts can turn into actual depression if you don't successfully stop the endless cycle of fearful/negative thoughts. I know it's easier said than done. If it gets worse see your doctor.

Every time I dream about the end of the world it's something with water. Like everything being flooded, stuff like that. Creepy.

Mine are always different. The world was smoldering. I remember looking over the roof of some large building, watching everything steaming

What was funny was at the end, me and this stranger were staggering down an underground car park and a saw a McDonald's paper bag and were happy. i opened it and it was filled with Krispy Cream donuts.

I had the weirdest, yet most awesome dream ever a couple nights ago.

It was pitch black, somewhere around midnight, and me and a bunch of people from my DC school summer trip last year were standing in a circle in my grandma's old garage. We were all dressed in battle gear--it was like Nerf battle gear, padding and vests, that kind of thing. And the whole garage was lit with black lights or something, and everything was NEON. Every neon color was in that garage, and the doors were all closed, so it was just this dark glowing neon place with us all in Nerf-style battle gear standing in a circle.

And all of a sudden, a ghost rises up in the middle of the circle--it looks like the Flying Dutchman from Spongebob, except skinnier and a bit shorter and less cartoony--and the ghost makes some kind of roaring sound. So we all start attacking it with weapons--swords or lightsabers or something we have, and the ghost falls down for a bit. Like the boss in video games, he goes down but you know he's gonna get back up again, and we all knew he was gonna get back up.

And the ghost snaps up, rising and shrieking again, and all of a sudden everything goes slow motion. And right where the ghost is standing, a fountain of jellybeans comes rushing up from the floor, shooting straight up then spreading out through the air, in slow motion. And all of a sudden we're all holding these neon guns with round barrels and a jellybean storer-type thing (mine was neon purple with orange edges around the barrel), and the jellybeans are flying into our guns through the barrel and into the storage part of the gun.

And everything snaps back to regular motion and somebody screams "NOW!", and we all start firing our jellybean guns at the ghost, and it's working a thousand times better than our previous attack, and he's going down and finally he's defeated and on the ground.

    And I woke up then.

    Awesome dream. :D

I had the of the most vivid dreams a few weeks ago. I wont go into details (ZzZzZz), but i was actually a women. (Shame, i cant control my dreams, but it was a first anyway).

Sadly it was a pretty creepy dream and pretty complex, felt like it went on forever.

The very last bit of it was cool. I was running down the road from this guy who was cutting people up and doing experiments (I was one, id just awoken on a table with him above me, with a scapel). So i escaped and i was bleeding from certain wounds, trying to find help when i look in this puddle and see someone looking at me. Before i know it, this hand with claws on it comes out of the puddle and pieces my eyes, and drags me through the puddle.

I'm suddenly in this dark chamber, except for the floor i was kneeling on, which looked like one of those glass windows you see in churches (Millions of pieces of coloured glass - with light coming through it).

Than this figure comes out of the shadow and Say's something along the lines of, "Enjoy the rest of existence dealing with the pleasure of death" and than he vanished and all these creatures come out of the dark towards me....

Then the alarm woke me up.

    Thankfully.

Yeah, it was more than a little weird (I attribute it to my chocolate/candy and caffeine consumption before bed--I had a lot of both), and very random, but totally amazing.

I Had a bunch of dreams last night. One of them was this Show and Tell I was participating in for school. Except we had to cross a a large body of water on a ferry boat that had this crane attached to it and on the end was this white van barely skimming the water. Anyways at this Show and tell people talked about their ancestory and such. I remember one person talked about how they were somehow related to some ancient king. Aztec I think. When it was my turn I decided to do this monologue or something and it started off like 'Do you know what its like to be me?' apparently it was something I was going to make up on the fly.

Then I took this basketball and I explained how this kid is a star athlete and shot a hoop(we were in some school gym or something) and the idea was to say how he won't make it to college because he has to get a job to help support my family. My dream ended sometime after that But I had planned to delve into describing how crappy I have been feeling. I woke up and... decided to go back to bed.

My next dream I was walking outside and these... uh asian gangster looking guys were running after this kid who was at that Show and tell who said he was distantly related to some aztec(sp) royallty. I turned to Yick Yu(a character from Degrassi Junior High/High.) and asked him what the hell did he do. Apparently he blabbed to these guys about his 'royal blood' Which we all learned at that Show and Tell. Either it was a continuation of the dream or my mind just decided to connect the dots and link them to make sense of it.

Anyways they shout "You pull a gun out and we will pull a knife out" I guess the idea is that even out matched by a gun, they could still beat the crap out of him with an 'inferior' weapon or something. So me... turning out to be some super blackbelt or something I intercept him and I shout back "You pull a gun on me and I will use a real weapon, my fists!" Which is when my dream ended. To bad I wanted to see if I could kick some real butt. :p

But before these dreams I had a nightmare. Horrible one.

I was feeling like crap. I wanted to die. I decided to write to one of my exgirlfriends explaining that I just wanted to talk like we used to. It could be about anything I just wanted to talk. I was vague about how I was feeling about what I wanted. Then after awhile I wrote to her again explaining everything. How I was so tired, how I wanted to die. That I was scared about these feelings and thoughts. I wanted to tell her everything I was feeling. I waited for her response. I don't think it ever came and I felt hopeless.

You see there was a point in our relationship that I realized that as long as she cared about me. Whether it was love as a boyfriend or just as a friend, that she actually cared about me then I would be ok. I would face whatever crap was thrown my way because I knew that someone, somewhere actually cared about me. That I was loved.

But in my dream... she didn't reply. She didn't write me back at all. I woke up with a real sense of dread. I also had a real understanding as to why people sometimes tell people about these sort of things. They are scared, really really scared. Yet they feel like they can't tell anyone. They don't know how to get help for themselves and so they talk about it to someone in hopes that someone else can help them. That they would know how to help them because they just don't know how and might be scared of their friends and families responses and can't deal with it. So they want to decision out of their hands.

Well thats what I understood as I woke up and thought about my dream. Whether thats true or not I guess I don't know. But thats how I felt when I tried to talk to my ex.

This is also the first time my thoughts of suicide(don't worry as horrible as I feel I love life to much) appeared in a dream. Atleast the first I can remember.
