Hi guys. If anyone cares, here's my very rough draft of how the game will work and what will be posted up when the RPG is complete.

So, if anyone is interested, feel free to PM me and ask me about it, but it probably won't be up for a while (months to a year). I'm still in the very early stages of planning, it'll have to be approved, and I don't want to do anything for a while as I'm already in PAX so don't hold your breath. Anyways, I'm hoping it'll be approved and turn out well!

Mind Machine

Title: Mind Machine

General Information:


The year is 119 OA[Ordinal Age] you are the best of the best of your faction and class. You have made a living off of taking the advantage of technology to the extremes. You are a warrior, a mercenary, a rogue, etc. Whatever your occupation you are the best.
You're trying to make a living for yourself, as you normally would. You wonder sometimes if human is even necessary in the battle of bloodshed. But you continue to lie to yourself and find ways to justify why you are doing as you are doing.
Some may not, some may wonder, and realize why. But a job is a job. And you have to continue your job.
Now the law has put a hit out on you, even the most holy of knights. You'll have to break the law a few times. And maybe conquer this Orbital Age for yourself.
Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer. Ally with fellow fugitives, but don't think for a second they have your back all the time.

The idea is that for unknown reasons the Law wants to eradicate all human weapons. To convince the world that Gears are the way to protect the people and that humans are no longer needed in the battle of war.

In this RP, you'll also get to see Metal Mages. Due to some interesting effects some of the creatures of this land have become digital and metal. Dragons made of steel and gears breathing breaths of electricity with tongues made of metal electric wires.

Metal Mages are mages who control the elements of metal.

Necromancers, would use nanomachines to rip a man's soul out and make a hologram form of that man's soul for battle.

Where as Healing Mages would use micro machines to work at the micro level healing wounds.

Magic is based on harnessing the power of "energy".

Rogues have mini little fairies that behave as lock picks.



This RP would give you the opportunity to create digital and gear technology as you like. Modifying classes and the abilities you.

RP would be a point based system to combat and such. I'd hand out points for you to buy a new ability or new weapon.

That sounds cool Leaka... but how would we get the points? And how would 'combat and such' work?

 

I give them.

Each member would start off with 40 points each. You use those 40 points to buy your first abilities.

Then during the RP, I'd give you a couple points during chapter intervals and some would get a point for exceptional post.

Combat would be hyper realistic combat. Cinematic.

 

So, if I defeat somebody in a fight, would I get their points or some sort of reward? If I'm defeated in a fight, am I out of the RPG or do I somehow come back?

 

I love the idea, but I've yet to see an RPG system with a proper point system that worked. I think it makes the RPG into more of a Role Playing Game and takes away some of the aspect that put it at writingforums.org

You catch those slanty words? Sneaky huh?

 

If you defeat someone you'd get at least 3 points.

If you were defeated you'd still be in the RP, but you wouldn't get points. Unless I felt that you fought well and that your character had really tried their best, they'd at least get 1 point.

Personally, I think my system could work. Its a writing game that incorporates the members into creativity. Role Writing Game.

Just make sure you ask the GM (Game Master) before you join the game.

Is anyone interested in doing a new RPG? THe present ones haven't had any action in a week.

 

I'm new here, and was wondering, has anyone ever tried a game of mafia on this? Mafia is a game of deception where there are a minority of people who can kill one person a 'night' (Mafia) and the rest of the people have no idea who anyone else is. (Town) The town tries to kill the Mafia and the Mafia tries to kill the town off.

 

As far as I know, that hasn't been done before...

I would like to join a new RPG! Or make one myself... but it'd be a lot of work. This section of the forum is so dead.
