Modric is too much of a lightweight. Overt creativity isn't necessarily essential. Keane alongside Ince worked rather well. Control and dynamism will win games too. Schweinsteiger would be ideal.

That was stupid, but the phantom face masking was worse. Green Bay's play this second half so far is the worst though, if there is one person I can't stand see be glorified in the NFL today it's Roethlisberger

True art, very true, but Bastian seems way too attached to Bayern right now, he's been playing for them since God was a boy and apparently won't budge. With funds we've got I can't see any big names coming soon. But Fergie needs to concentrate on the title, as we saw at Wolves Nani is doing just fine but Scholesy's getting on. Need a new Paul Scholes, difficult to come by.

Should the Packers hold on to win this, the Steelers 'what might have been,' will be all bad these turnovers.

Of course if Green Bay loses, they'll be wondering about all those dropped passes.

Edit: Congratz Gigi. They took advantage of all those turnovers and held it together in the end. Throughout the fourth until the final drive I thought Pittsburgh was winning- their defense gave them a chance to win, but the offense couldn't capitalise.

    YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

I SCREAMED when that final pass was incomplete. Oh god, I'm close to crying and I'm shaking and I'm crashing from adrenaline and I have a headache and I have never been happier in my life and THIS IS THE GREATEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I am SO. PROUD. OF OUR TEAM!

I'm totally misusing caps lock. Forgive me, please! I just.... wow.

GO PACK GO! I'm so proud of us! We fought through adversity and won. I was praying for this. Thank God, thank Jesus and thank the Holy Spirit. I am so happy.
Can't wait to go to school tomorrow and see all the Packer pride!

    Word, on all counts.

Fourth quarter was pretty good. I don't really know anything about football, and I don't usually get into it, but I enjoyed it.

'Grats on your team winning, Gi. :) I thought of you. It was also a plus because this annoying guy at work really wanted the Steelers to win.

    GREEN AND YELLOW!

In other news, the Jones v Bader fight was pretty good. The Silva fight was a jaw dropper. Will be interesting to see if GSP beats Sheilds and moves up to middleweight

My dad is a 49ers fan. I have decided not to remind him that they had a chance to pick Rodgers, and instead took Alex Smith. But does anyone in Green Bay still miss Favre?

Thank you, Heather! :p I'm so happy!

I KNOW RIGHT    :D

    Thanks Tess! :)

Not really "missing" him, per se, but there are plenty of people, myself included, that want the chasm between Favre and the Packers to close and for Favre to retire a Packer. I think this SB win, on the year when we finally beat Favre (twice) and he retires gets us closer to closing that chasm. I hope Favre and GB can reconcile.
I've only seen 2 QBs play for Green Bay in my 15 year lifetime. I've been blessed to watch them both. Favre and now Rodgers. :)

I couldn't be happier. Oh, Vince Lombardi must be smiling down on us! :')

And now back to the offseason and all the CBA crap.

Deadline is March 4 to get some sort of agreement.

Can the wealthiest owners content themselves with simply hundreds of millions, or shall we try and break the players and throw small market teams under the bus to push it into the billions? Will players yet to take a snap continue to earn more than the highest paid veterans? Can't anyone think of the concussions!? This would make an epic reality tv series. I think I'm cheering for the players by default, even though I want a rookie and salary cap. Or the small market teams. Either way, as long as Jerry Jones loses good triumphs.

It's interesting to see how things will play out with Green Bay, considering 1) we're a small market team, 2) we don't have one owner, we have 112,120 owners/shareholders, 3) we're the only team in the NFL to release our financial information each year and 4) we're the Super Bowl winners.
I'm cheering for the players as well. Maybe it's because of my team, but I don't like the overly rich owners of teams. I love the fact that the people of Green Bay own the Packers, not some filthy rich businessman.

    YOU'RE NOT FIT TO,
    YOU'RE NOT FIT TO,
    YOU'RE NOT FIT TO REFEREE!
    YOU'RE NOT FIT TO REFEREE!

Today's gimp in green was Mr Andy Woolmer from Oldham somewhere well away from Huddersfield and Oldham. He somehow managed to arse up every decision he had to make, always to Oldham's advantage. Any competent referee would have seen that team of thugs down to 7 men, but Mr Woolmer spent his game gleefully cajoling Oldham's set of ugly thugs into making serious attempts to maim men in blue and white while blowing for a foul every time a man in stripes breathed.

He was a cheat. Pure and simple.

That sucks. One of your players or coaches must have decided to call the ref out for a bad call early on, and he decided he'd show who's in charge. At least that's how it works over here

The only team in his ear were their lot. Chris Taylor was a disgrace for chasing him, moaning about every decision.

Part of me also thinks that being told he wasn't fit to referee by the Kilner Bank as he walked off (with the protection of stewards, I hasten to add) at half-time made him think that he'd stick it to the crowd, pin his colours to the mast and just give Oldham every decision he could manage.

Alas, now it's baseball/basketball time. The Bucks are absolutely dreadful and the Brewers are seemingly always the promising team that can't get anything done. They signed some pretty good players this offseason though, plus contract extensions for our good guys, that we really needed.

I don't watch basketball at all (I really, really don't like it  ) and only watch baseball sparingly, but I'll cheer for the Brewers anyway, and hope for the best for the Bucks.

Correction. It is hockey season. All other sports are irrelevant.

This is true the rest of the year as well.

PS. The Leafs are on a roll of great play since recalling goaltender James Reimer from the AHL. Expect my views on the sport to change accordingly once things start falling apart again.

I think the nearest teams to us are the Chicago Blackhawks and the Detroit Red Wings. My dad has an old Red Wings (RedWings? I'm totally clueless about hockey -- I've only seen two games. :p USA/Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics and the Miracle on Ice game on ESPN Classics from 1980) jersey downstairs in the basement, he used to cheer for them. Hasn't done that in years, I think. Don't really know why, either.

The Cricket World Cup (One day Internationals) Start next week.

Australia has not lost a game in a World cup since 1996 i believe. We'll lose a game this time, and lose our title as World Champions.

Lacrosse is fun to play in the summer, but I prefer ball hockey and football.
