w176: Those pictures are amazing! I wish I could draw like that. Valentine's day cupcakes: And... me. Cause I felt like taking a picture of myself. And yes, my nose really is that big.
Both are very, very pretty. Are those cakes chocolate inside? Oohh ohh ohh! And I love how you pipe the icing properly...I just kinda slap the stuff on with a knife. Partly because I don't have an icing-pipe-thingy, and partly 'cause I'm just messy like that.
If you combine the photo of yourself holding a cupcake out to say some kid. That would be one evil photo. That so looks like a thoughtful, mischievious grin. No toothpaste in those cupcakes i hope.
Thanks everyone! Yes, they are chocolate... I just wish I would have had pink paper cups, would have looked better. But yes, I didn't, so I can't be picky!
Grandmas pine My grandma wished for a painting of a Scots pine, in black and white. I cheated a little with burnt umber, and indigo. Paper a bit dyed with tea and coffee. Watercolors and ink. A4 size. I'm happy with it. Because I think grandma will like it. Damn stupid English that don't have a every day distinction for grandma-on-mother-side and grandma-on-mothers-side. Writing just grandma feels incomplete.
Beautiful pictures. And you guys have a different word for paternal grandmother and maternal grandmother? That's cool. Growing up, we called ours Grandma D and Grandma M, and Joel looks at me like I'm crazy every time I say it.
Yeah, and shifting to a language without it always feels like... Not having separate words for Mum and Dad and just be able to say Parent. Swedish got a more specific words for family in general. Aunt-that-dads/mums-sister etc. Edit: It is built with pre- and suffixes "Fath-mo-mother" if I make some Swenglish version of it is you fathers mothers mother. "Ma-sister" is you mother sister, etc.
Oh tahnks. But. [RANT] Seriously people. Less moping and more drawing if you feel that way. Drawing is a skill easy to acquire with some help. I studied sketching technique with master of science students that went from "Draw nine line to draw a box in perspective" to beautiful rending of products (the ergonomic design students) or buildings and rooms (architectonics students) in less then half a year, and 15 lessons, and 20 pictures as assignments. As an adult, many assuming they were clumsy and had sausages for fingers. All ended up proud of their drawing abilities. With good guidance you go from nothing to something you can be proud of en less time it takes to play trough most computer games. With good guidance, either from a course book or teacher. (Just practicing without guidance might end up with you getting stuck, though) [/RANT]
Yeah I was enamored with art as a child, I was an ace in my art classes but after not being able to get into a art high school and studying some banal major in college for just money aims, I now hardly have the money, ironically, or vigor to return to school.
You don't need to go to college to fins a decent art class, just going down to the local library getting a good book on drawing exercises and theory takes you far. I would recommend Betty Edwards "Drawing with the right side of the brain." It internationally renown as really good for teaching all the basics, even trough the neurophysiology is a bit oversimplified and off track at times. But she wrote it in the 70s, so I think i can be excused.
I know this isn't my photo, and nor is it of me, but I felt the need to share a magnificent aerial shot of Leeds Road, Huddersfield, on April 30th 1994. That's beautiful. Packed to the rafters for it's last-ever game (well, packed to the rafters post-Taylor Report. Before that the capacity was 45,000 - here it's only 17,000).
*will never understand any love of football* I'm really stoked about the cover for an anthology my story is included in, due out in September 2011. I'm amongst some big name romance authors, which is scary given that I'm pretty much the only fledgling writer on the list of 15 writers whose stories were accepted. The editor sent this out to us today: It's so purdy!
Thats aboslutly awesome! I would be jumping around with you and shivering at the same time if I were you.
That looks so awesome! I'm so proud of you hunny! Your story is great (it really is, I was the first person to read it ) and absolutely deserves to be there amongst the big name writers!
