Since writing is only my secondary form of artistic expression, I can honestly say that most of the time I write something just to play with words; just to see how many rules I can break without collapsing Grammar Castle. On the other hand, with music (my primary outlet), I feel this inexplicable need to make something. I have this uncontrollable drive to draw something out of my mind or my heart into reality... In other words, to communicate something. So it's not like I can't relate to any of you that way. In any case, writing is intriguing to me because it takes one of the most basic building blocks of culture - language - and turns it into a paint set.

Of course the main character isn't exactly me, but I like to think I have something in common with most, if not all my characters.
What compells you to write? In all honesty I'm not entirely sure what compells me to write. It's like a mixture of feelings all built up into one. I write because I like putting my imagination down. I like to bring it to life and see how my origination of the idea would span out and continue. It was dull and i needed an outlet where I had a chance to be creative.
Hi..I had taken a penchant for writing since my school times. But i failed to acknowledge it then . After I entered into adulthood I realized I am creative and started looking for means to give forms to my thoughts and imaginations. After many occasions of failure to find my innate writing style and genre, I can say I still have'nt completely succeeded. I am currently working as an writer in company where i am required to restrain my creative juices to give way to the requisite content. I am flooded with thoughts for fiction and want to envisage into it as soon as possible. I have heard that procrastination kills the idea. It should not happen to me. I see myself as a prolific writer within the coming few years in both fiction as well as non fiction. I am new to a forum and wish every aspiring and buding writer here all the very best.
I always have the urge to write. it's always in my head everywhere i go. my imagination is working overtime. not for any real reason, just because i can. I write, because it's safe heaven. i can do anything in my books! i can create joy or sadness. I write fantasy because (in my opinion) it takes the most imagination to write it. I don't know when i wanted to start writing. i have done it since childhood. but it must have something to do with my passion for reading. Well fantasy ofcourse.. i have some small philosophical short stories but to write that well i need to mature more (i guess).
What compells you to write? Just some insane need to be creative, if I ignore it to long, I just feel like I have to grab something and make something. Writing helps to soak up the creative juices. Why do you write? I have stories that I think about and I just start writing them. What makes you write what you write? I have always liked fantasy, D&D, Lord of the rings, Narnia, I like it even more as I create the world of my stories. What Made you decide you liked to write? Boredom in the military, then renewed when I decided to teach myself to type, I just started typing to learn the keys and instead of copying something I started writing a book. What Do You Write? I write about the lives of people not saving the world at every turn, but helping others out. I have yet to have an epic novel, I doubt I will. Five or ten people do not typically change the outcome of the world very often if ever. How fragile a world, or how powerful a foe must be to change the world, so how powerful a hero must be to save it, and if the hero is so powerful why not conquer the world, so that evil will be controlled? A couple of human beings fighting to rule the world, would be like a ant trying to rule a large state. Massive armies yes, lone individuals? no. I like the mundane magic, the local fighting, the living life in medievil fantasy period. Small group facing small groups, or slipping by the bigger armies to get to the villian. The cold cruel world and the evil it spawns, kept in check by other evils under cutting them.
1. What compels you to write? 2. Why do you write? 3. What makes you write what you write? 4. What Made you decide you liked to write? 5. What Do You Write? 1. Writing is just an urge that is inside me. It is a drive that is inside me that pushes me to write. Feelings, circumstances, etc give me inspiration or motivation to write. 2. There is a therapy in writing for me. Something that soothes my spirit. It is something that I have to do because if I don't I feel out of place. 3. I write all types of things and it doesn't matter what the medium is. 4. I never decided I liked to write. It was always something that I resorted to. 5. I write poems, stories, screenplays, plays, essays, film, lectures, etc.
What compels you to write? Inspiration. And the things that inspire me to write range from famous authors, encouragement from my family, music, events, animals, and even trash sometimes. So many things inspire me. Why do you write? To get the ideas out of my head. It also tends to put me in a good mood. I also want to make a living off of writing one day but mostly because it's just fun. What makes you write what you write? Many things make me write what I write, but it's my personality which really gets my ideas typed up and on paper. What made you decide you like to write? I have this theory that I was born with this gene that makes me enjoy writing so much that if I don't write, I'll die. What do you write? I love writing fantasy because you can be so creative with everything. You can make your own rules, species, languages, and so on. Writing fantasy is a test of imagination in my opinion. I also enjoy writing mystery; it's so much fun. You get to think of a crime and how and why it was committed, a culprit and suspects, and just the suspense of it all.
What compells you to write? Anything, really. I get plot bunnies in my head faster than you can say jump. If I'm properly awake, that is. (They mostly come in class when I'm daydreaming... xP) If I hear something hilarious, I try to incorporate it into a short story. Or if I encounter something awesome that day, or witness a really brilliant situation which screams out "PLOT BUNNY", or watch/read something which really inspires me, I have to write something. Even if it's only a few lines. Why do you write? The first answer that pops into my head is "Because it's fun". But that's what I used to say three years ago. Now, it's like, an escape into my own world and thoughts where it's just me, my characters, my story's problems, my plot. Usually (almost always, actually), I'm not bothered doing homework or studying (...that explains my falling grades... heh, um.. oops?), I just get out my writing book or a piece of paper, poise a pen over it, and write whatever comes to my mind. Usually it's more ideas for whatever I'm currently working on. Also, I write to get rid of some ideas or thoughts in my head. Even if it's some humour that I've been dying to use but haven't got the chance - onto paper it goes. Or something I can't talk about, can't describe, I write down. What makes you write what you write? That answer varies a lot. At the moment, I'm at a stage where I'm being inspired by books I'm reading, or movies I'm watching. A few years ago, when I was just 11 or 12, my stories would've been overly humorous, since that was what my imagination was up to at that time. Now, I think beyond just humour - I think of things that I would want to read as a normal everyday reader, not as the author. I think, also, my personality and my friends' personalities make me write the styles which I write in. I know for sure my personality's changed a lot over the past few years, I've become more confident, more outgoing and my attitude's gone from shy and unsure to happy-go-lucky, hyper and... easily excitable. xD And this inspires me, too, I think, because I can now write characters like that, and they have more depth than before. I don't even know if any of that made sense. What Made you decide you liked to write? I'm not sure, actually. I know that I've always liked reading, and my imagination's always been really vast (not to grow a head or anything...), and I always liked doing writing tasks in primary school. But at around grade 4 or 5, I liked writing even more - mostly short poems, though, or song lyrics which showed what I felt about something (and made me cringe horribly when I read them a few months ago). But, yeah, I guess as I grew up, I found my potential in writing stories, and how I could incorporate any idea into my stories and characters. What Do You Write? Well, almost everything I write has humour in it, since I can't stay too serious. I like trying out something with a little mystery and suspense, but not too much - also action. I love action. Add in some romance for effect, and a dash of make-believe (powers, enhanced senses, things like that), and there's my recipe. Though I tend to stray off that track quite often, but I'd say, in general, that's what it is.
What compells you to write? The truth that I have experienced and to help others trusts their hearts rather than deny that truth. Why do you write? It is a great story that needs to be shared; I have verbally shared pieces/parts with many and have gotten awesome encouragement to write it down. What makes you write what you write? It is NOT reliving it as much of it was sad and painful to even remember; but to put it down for posterity's sake...that is what motivates me now. What made you decide you liked to write? I don't know if I really like it yet. I just know I have to write it. What Do You Write? I am beginning first book; memoir of my first love and I coming back together in an "happily ever after" ending after 25 yrs apart.
1. Inspiration strikes me at the most random moments. I could be relaxing while watching television, and out of nowhere, I will jump up and grab a pen and some paper and write the idea down. Half the time, though, those ideas never turn into stories immediately, but sometimes I will find them months later and write the story. 2. Sometimes I write as a release, such as, when I'm angry - I always think its best to write down my feelings, or write about some other character and enter their mind, to forget what was on mine. Other times, I write for fun. 3. Straight inspiration makes me write what I write. 4. Writing my first piece of writing (a poem) when I was about 9 or 10 years old. 5. I write many things, articles for the school paper, short stories, poetry and blog entries that is about just anything that crosses my mind.
