Currently reading Simon Morden's "Equations of Life". Much to Simon's surprise, it seems, because it's not supposed to be published yet.
I'm reading Suzanne Collins "Catching Fire" the sequel to "The Hunger Games". So far, it isn't as good as the Hunger games, but it is still an amazing book.
I am reading Black Boy by Richard Wright. It is a semi-autobiographical account of his life. It is a great book so far. The characters are diverse and have their own personality and the dialogue is very simple and believable. The last book I read was Dear John by Nicholas Sparks and 1984 by George Orwell. Excellent books by the way!
You should try reading some of Richard Paul Evans books. He's like Nicholas Sparks. They write human drama.
I'm currently reading The World of the Shining Prince: Court Life in Ancient Japan, by Ivan Morris. It's a great overview of Heian Japan, for the history nerds among us.
I'm not a history nerd, but that book sounds interesting. I'm much more familiar with the Tokugawa Period, but I believe samurais had their start as professional soldiers to the Emperor back in the Heian Period? Going to cart your read next time I buy from Amazon. As for me, I'm finishing up Cranford, by Elizabeth Gaskell, and simultaneously trudging through Quicksilver, Volume 1 of Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle.
Getting ready to start Shogun by James Clavell again for the gazillionth time. Can't get enough of that book.
Currently dipping in and out of Orwell's essays and Irwin Yalom's The Gift of Therapy. Finding..for the first time..that I can't quite tolerate Orwell's prose unless he's writing about stuff I find very interesting. Excitingly I just now pre-ordered David Foster Wallace's The Pale King, not because I'm his number one fan or anything but more because it's nice to feel like a greasy teenager queuing-up outside HMV or Game now and again. Can't ever remember pre-ordering a book.
Picked up The Princess Bride, by William Goldman. Haven't gotten very far, but it is a strange book...
Alongside my other book, I've just started reading Asimov's The Complete Robot collection. Asimov deserves a mention as he's the only writer to have two of his short fiction collections appear on my bookshelf.
Right now Im reading Dean Koontz-Lightning, actually finishing it but somehow i feel a little stuck right now when there are less than a hundred pages left. I have an aversion for books that are too long. Over 400 pages is definitely too much for me, and I will inevitably lose interest for it at around 350. My ideal book is no longer than 300 pages actually.
Tesoro, by limiting the length, you are cutting yourself off from some of the greatest literature ever written. Do yourself a favor and learn to stick with the longer books - you'll be happy you did!
I'm reading Jaws, Teenage Vigilante, and Psycho 2. I gotta say Jaws the book was a letdown. I mean, it was okay, but not as great as the film.
Right now I'm reading, 'the quantity theory of insanity' by will self. I am enjoying it, in the most part, but I am finding his verbosity really tedious, =(
Lirael: Daughter Of The Clayr, Garth Nix seems better at writing a teenage girl in this than Sabriel, and he also knows how to make excellent use of cliched ideas.
Firewing by Kenneth Oppel. It reminds me a lot of Warriors, only in bat form...Great book so far, though.
I'm nearing the end of Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's a pretty good book so far. It's quite a refreshing read considering it is revolving around zombies instead of vampires...
Just finished Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke (a fantastic book and series which I highly recommend) and am now about to start The Once and Future King by T.H. White so maybe now my dad will stop harping on me to read it
