For my top three... I'd say:

R.A. Salvatore: For great action sequences and some pretty decent messages throughout. Memorable characters too.

Terry Brooks: My definition of epic fantasy right there. Always some major world-ending plot and everyday characters overcoming fears to save the world. Amazing stuff.

Patrick Rothfuss: I've only read one book by him, but seriously, The Name of the Wind is supremely epic. A true bard's tale.

    Can't say that I have a favorite.

However....I absolutely love writing from a first person perspective. So when I'm going blank, a Sue Grafton novel seems to recharge my batteries.

    She's hilarious and fun.

I really like the Bronte sisters, Charlotte and Emily. I haven't read any Anne Bronte yet, but I will.

If I had to say one, it would be Vince Flynn. However, I am also a fan of many other authors. To name a few:

Thriller: VF, Tom Clancy, Brad Thor, Stephen Hunter, Stephen Coonts, David Baldacci, Ben Coes, and others.

Mystery: Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Ed McBain [aka Evan Hunter], and Dorothy Sayers.

Fantasy: Jim Butcher, J.R.R. Tolkien, Eoin Colfer, C.S. Lewis.

Classic Literature: Edgar Allan Poe, George Orwell, JD Salinger, Oscar Wilde, and more.

Most recently I have been into Christopher Moore.
He has a book called "Fool" that is a parody on "King Lear."
I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a good story and a laugh.

Roald Dahl - The BFG - The Twits

    George Orwell - Only 1984

Laurie Halse Anderson - Speak. Seriously this is an awesome short and witty read.

Brett Easton Ellis - American Psycho

    Tolkien - The Hobbit, only.

Dare I say it, Stephanie Meyer - The Host and just about everything else she has written.

Oh, and Anne Rice - The Vampire Lestat.

Frank Herbert....Most famous for his "Dune" series, "The Dosadi Experiment" is his best...in my humble opinion.

Ah, I consider my favorite to be Sarah Mlynowski. Had me laughing at every single page. I think humour is really nice in a book.

Haha, I'd never ever be able to choose. It's like choosing your favorite food or movie or even band of music. They're are too many good ones out there.

Well, at the moment I'm very much enjoying Margaret Peterson Haddix, and Patricia Reilly Giff.
