Hey, J.P. It's going okay, thanks. Got some writing done, some editing done, some lurking done. I'm good! How are you?
Not my typing, but the world around me is kind of blurred....the real world is going to seem a little off for a while, as I'm so focused on my own...
I plan on joining the nano this year. Hopefully my typing will be up to scratch. Strange how the eyes feel after concentration lets them go.
Yay, you should totally do it...I love Nanowrimo...will be using it to write the sequel to the book I'm writing right now....
I started one last year but the opportunity was taken away. But now I have a better understanding of Nano/novels/draft-writing - so look forward to the chance again. Often I have suggested to those writing novels to join Nano if they needed a boost in support/drive.
Woohoo!! Keep it up! I decided on my drive home from practice today that I'm going to make myself a soundtrack for my story. I've discovered that soundtracks are hugely motivating to me...I made a soundtrack for my family and listening to it helps me push myself to go to practice when I don't want to, so hopefully this one will help me write even when I'm frustrated.
Thanks guys - hi JP! Alternating right now between making some PR/campaign stuff, and my book....also researching evidence of extraterrestrials out of pure curiosity.
congrats Mallory.... now your ordeal starts. I am in the same boat. Just finished proofing a 309 page novel. Because I don't have four dollars for outskirts press to publish, I am trying to get a friend to have a publisher wave the fee. This anything but sure thing. Four years I have trying to produce this manuscript and I far from completing my mission. Unlike most doing this, I have no desire to be author or garner any fame. I hate that stuff. I had only one motive in this book: to expose the biggest scandal in human history. And this historic action depends on the feeding habits of two pigeons named Ozzie and Harriet. The two birds I been feeding on my window ledge. I am using a local wifi and have a usb modem on the ledge. Life is strange and getting stranger.
Yeah Mallory, nice work! I wish i can write a novel that fast. haha. I guess if i practice more i'll get faster on typing. But im still majorly behind.
Mattergrey - Legit publishers won't make you pay them a fee to take on your book (nor will legit agents, for that matter). That's called vanity publishing and has a horrendously bad rep, and for good reason - loads of scams associated - if you're going to self-publish, I'd at least suggest going the Amazon route, but don't go through a venue that'll make you pay them. Fullmetal - thanks - your story seems very well-fleshed out, you should give it a go! I bet once you get started, it'll roll out easier than you think. Once you get past 20,000-25,000 words, the going gets very easy. Chunks of 1,000, 5,000 or even 10,000 don't seem all that monster-sized anymore. It's easiest to get bogged down by writers' block when you're in the beginning stages (less than 10,000 or so words in). Don't let it trip you up too bad. Not trying to bingo you. But you talk about your book a lot, and it seems very well-developed, too much so for that 0 word count in the sig....
I am procrastinating going downstairs and eating some crackers and cheese. I also have been staying up to late and not sleeping virtually because I have been writing myself to an early grave
