Just writing a bit more. Sometimes the bursts can go on for two-three pages, sometimes just a paragraph. I'm just worried that some parts of it are boring. :/ Ah well, I'll just have to edit them.
Been making my main character more feminine, despite being a guy. xD But that aside, just did some late night research on modelling and laws in the UK. Trying to get my pacing right >.< I always feel like my chapters are too boring, or too much things happen in one chapter. I'm just crap at building up suspense :l
Youniquee, I had this problem on several occasions. I felt that my chapters were boring. My nightmare came true when someone reviewed it with me. Thus, I shelved it and never came back to it. I am working on a new story that I have not got critiqued yet. I'm working on the first act of the story and look forward in strengthening my weakness as I progress through the new story I am working, The Robot Plan, a drama-comedy story.
I decided to move my Amos Garnier Mysteries back 10 years to 1765 for a few reasons: (a) The period between the French and Indian War and the Revolution is largely unexplored in fiction. (b) According to my backstory for Amos, he's supposed to be discovered by General Braddock when the lad's just two. Problem? Braddock died in 1755, a whole six years before Amos' birth. So...yah. 8[ Amos' birth-year is now 1751 and he's found by Braddock in 1754. Anywhoo, everything else is the same, plot's still the same, only there won't be an American Revolution playing out in the background yet.
What aspect of law in the UK? Chances are I'll be able to help. (Unless it's some really obscure law or anything to do with probate).
*O* I posted it before, but mammmamia said that it would be too hard to answer...I don't even know how to put it into simpler words or expand on it...because in the story, I don't actually go deep into the details of the court case.. Here's the link to the thread~ https://www.writingforums.org/showthread.php?t=45517 I would be so happy if you could answer it. Thanks
I'm almost 57,000 words in at the moment. I'm really forcing myself to get this thing written - I know the plot jumps around a bit and certain things really need to be fleshed out more, but all those things that involve reworking plot bits that have been written (or adding in new ones, and new character development, in the middle of the book) are much easier to identify when reading a printed copy. I want to write all the scenes I've got mapped out, write the end of the story, and then print the rest of it out (I've already printed the first 120 pages, but they're at my best friend's apartment) and read it with a critical eye and a red pen. Sorry if this post makes no sense. It's 6:22 a.m. (and this is a case of me still being awake, not of getting up early - actually, getting up that early would probably be worse...)
I didn't get much done during the last couple of weeks, because my imagination has been drifting elsewhere. No excuse. So I'm writing here, for the world to view (should they so desire) that I will get at least 6000 words done on Wandmaker tomorrow.
I have ten ideas in mind already, but a few of them aren't high concepts. I am working on the first idea and already identified the theme or moral message to that idea. I hope it turns out well. I am just in my first draft on act 1.
Almost done priming the first 50 pages to the way I can be satisfied with them, then only 200 more pages to go, haha...:/
yup yup, tis an epic, but not at the LOTR fantasy echelon, haha. Just a little story I started many moons ago, and finally finding the gumption to finish it. It's only 140K because of all the adjectives; they are my friends.
I just have 1,860 words done and have not started much. Maybe because I have other things to do. I am actioning for 120 pages by the end of the month and am trying to get my first draft done. I know my characters will be flat at first, as it already is. My storyline is a bit soap opera ish and episodic, soomething I don't like about my writing. I guess this is what the second rewrite is for. I am excited to work on my first screenplay though, and reading other people's scripts is a good experience.
120 pages by the end of the month is a really great goal. My writing of the latest parts of my novel have been going a bit slow -- I, too, have lots of other things to do, plus more work than usual -- but I'm finally at that point of printing out the last of it and getting into revision mode. It's a very exciting place to be.
I currently have a draft that's 97 pages long, but I will be adding more ideas. I've started coming up with newer ideas, and will probably insert them in this weekend while taking out ten or so pages of my first draft. I've already entered the editing process, and I feel like that I am almost done with my story, even thought it's short.
My story is about halfway done at 130 pages. I'm just begining to rewrite most of it, since a majority of it is pretty dated.
Finished the story I was writing for class. Now I'm warming up to start something new! This is a great feeling.
