I write because I'm dyslectic and even I want to know what I'm saying. I'm often located on the outside of the wheel of conversation. When I write I can make sense of what I'm saying and I feel more centered. More toward the hub of that wheel.

    What compells you to write?

Having a autism and ADHD is what compels me to right better.

    Why do you write?

Writing helps me express myself better than what people realize. It is a gift that most people don't acknowledge when I tell them that I have Autism and ADHD.

What makes you write what you write?

As I said when it compels me, autism and ADHD helps me express myself in ways that people really don't know I can. With writing, I can surprise others with my gift and show them what I am capable of.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

I realized that writing was the best way for me to express myself. It has really made things easier for me to show people what is going on.

    What Do You Write

I do a lot of blogging but I also like writing stories, usually short story chapters.

    What compells you to write?

A slew of things, many of which can be mashed into the one-liner "Because it's an escape from reality" which the teacher of my Writer's Craft course despises. I maintain I am justified in using that term, because I use it in a different sense than others- I escape to avoid stress, among other things, whereas most people who write that as default are using it because they are: lazy, don't care, or want to be vague. (That last one is perfectly fine if it's used because they really don't know, in a thoughtful sense.)

Emotional reasons (wait, what are these 'emotions' I keep hearing of? Sounds fun.) aside, I write because it is one of the few artistic things I can do. My dad suffered from total frostbite on both hands at age six, and I was born with his wrist endurance and reduced fine motor control. Thus, my writing has always been horrible, and if I try to write neatly, I cramp up hard and fast after two or three lines. (Therefore I type as much as possible, which I can do for hours on end. I can't type like most people can, and even though I'm right-handed I use more fingers on my left than I do on my right!) Art is simply out of the question, although I am getting better compared to what I used to spew out. Singing? You'd best really good at placing listening devices because heck if you'll ever catch me singing in public, or anywhere except on Xbox parties. Instruments? I used to play trombone way back in Grade 5, but that was about it. A summer camp taught me some basic Ukelele (god that was embarrassing, everyone else was like two years younger than me. At least I looked a lot younger than I was) but that was quickly forgotten. After getting addicted to K-ON!, I'm thinking of Bass or Guitar, but that would be quite a ride for someone with fine motor control issues (I don't look any different from the next guy, but it effects how much effort I have to put into doing very fine movements, which saps my endurance even more. You'd never be able to guess it except for the fact that I tire easily.) as well as a serious fear of pain, apparent, implicated or imagined. Which is sort of ironic seeing as how I'd love to be Canadian Air Force pilot and I write about so much bloody war. xD

I also write because I love to design vehicles, which arguable caused me to re-write Project One Man War Saga into what it is today.

    Why do you write?

Oops, did that a bit up top. maybe entirely up top. *freaks out*

What makes you write what you write?

A love of the Aerospace genre- my take on Sci-Fi, with a heavy bias towards the space aspect. The fact that I 'discover' the words more than write them also helps, and just generally having so many ideas at any given time started it. On a darker note, the fact that I write such unattainable things and almost always stick myself in there somewhere, can be said to make me write what I do. After I truly realized the difference between the One Man War Universe and reality, I started to really get into writing it as a way to protect myself from grim reality. I say with absolute confidence that I am 100% nuts, and that I often loose track of time when brainstorming because I truly think that this reality on Earth is a dream. And I'm proud to be nuts like that. The huge cast is my family, and the design process is my life. The ups and downs are my ups and downs, and every single death is on my hands. if someone important dies, I feel the loss as if it were real. And I know more about the geography of the OMW Universe than I do my own city. (On a related note, I know more streets in the U.S. than I do Canada. My entire 'world' in Canada is a little dot with maybe three little stubby arms. Then a little line drawn to the border, which breaks off and heads towards Seven Lakes, North Carolina; Las Vegas; Mars, Pennsylvania; Disneyland and JFK Space Center, Florida. A few little lines in Mexico; the Caribbean Islands; and Jamaica, twice.)

What Made you decide you liked to write?

Wait, what? One, I don't like to write, I love to write. Two, it wasn't some conscious thing, I just started and it snowballed to where it is now. It was like riding a bike. Didn't care for it at first (my writing was huge yet still messy) but fast forward a few years and I put my pencil down and realize I've been writing for four hours almost every day. It just happens. (I was fearful of pain, so I didn't care for biking, but once I got the hang of it I wouldn't shut up about going out to do it. I remember one day that incessant ranting spawned dozens of topic derailments, and I honestly remember talking for at least eight hours. Looking back on it, I have no clue how the heck I did that, even considering I was hyper as a kid. You'd be hard pressed for me to do something like that for fifteen minutes, let alone eight hours.)

    What Do You Write?

My main story is Project One Man War Saga, which is a reimagining of the original storyline, taking it a lot further both forward and backwards. At the start it spanned three sections: Project One Man War, Project Shattered Skies and Project Neko-25: Love and the Endless War, between the years 1993 and 2014, Earth Standard Time.

After years of writing it, it has now included background on much of the original cast (which started as one and grew to forty within two days, no joke) which spans the longest time frame I've ever seen in any story in my life. It includes story ranging from Admiral Seven- three thousand years, give or take- to Snpr Mk.VII and the Council of Elders, formerly Origins Council- the former dating back two billion years before the Earth was formed, and the latter dating back five more past that: One Man War dates twelve billion years back. Forwards, it dates as far as 4014, Earth Standard Time, and in that two-thousand-year time frame Earth bears witness to the Third World War (~2100s)... and than the Fourth World War (~2500s), and a resurgence of Stalin-era Soviet doctrine; the Gulags are reborn (quietly from 2080 to 2800, and publicly in 2864). A collective alliance of systems forms in the wake of the events of 2014... and is destroyed. (~2800s) And it comes back with a vengeance. (4014) A distant planet untouched by the Fourth Great Defensive War, the war that assaulted the United Universal Government, is host to a final revolution... and a new revelation. (3000)

Comrades die, with none to walk their paths. An old friend is lost evacuating a doomed world... so who is the one who still walks his path? Mysteries crop up in the middle of destabilization on a universal scale, and the last light of stability now has no place to call home, pursued by a society hell-bent on its demise. A ghost vessel and guardian angel keep the feeble light burning brightly in an unrelenting wind while embarking on its own mysterious agenda. The tenacity of the human race ignites the cold, hellish fire of the Human Ascension for the fourth time in universal history. The society so hell-bent on destroying the last light of stability finds its superior strength challenged by the Ascension- a force only barely defeated the first time by the might of the IBAE, and becoming harder to defeat the next two times by an ever-weakening Empire. The Fourth Ascension has trumped the power of the First- and the IBAE is long gone, with no other equal in its place. An iron fist cradles the feeble flame and fights the relentless wind in a war that threatens to tear both sides apart... until a sleeping giant begins to stir. A giant who has slept since the start of the IBAE. A giant with one simple question, and the power to save or destroy everything with the answer. A giant who stands taller than that of Logic when awakened. A giant once known as Time.

And Time's one seriously pissed off giant.

    ______________
So maybe I went a little overboard on the 'What do I write' thing but... it's an improvement from the last little summary of the timeline I did, which is helpful for me. :3

I just realized something when I saw this thread title yet again. With fiction, I write because I want to have written. With nonfiction, I write because I have something to say, because I'm driven to express myself.

This tells me that, however much I'd prefer the contrary, I am a nonfiction writer.

    Dang.

What compels you to write? The thought that someone may actually want to read it and enjoy reading it, looking for more. The possibility of some spare cash is also quite nice!
Why do you write? Because I find it a fun, enjoyable hobby. I always have. As far back as I can remember, people have said I've been a creative person.
What makes you write what you write? I love science fiction, and I enjoy novels, especially science fiction ones.
What made you decide you like to write? I don't know. I've always liked writing.
What do you write? Science fiction, mainly long works (working on a full-length novel at present), sometimes short stories.

    1. My mind. When I thought of something in my mind, it just compels me to take a pen and paper and write. After that I found it very fun to write.
    2. To get my ideas out of my head because if I don't, I will go insane.
    3. I am a huge fan of romance novels and horror stories.
    4. When I first wrote a fan fiction and then I was obsessed of writing that writing has become my hobby for life.
    5. Romance and horrors are my favorites. Also adventures too.

What compels you to write? The thing about writing that compels me is the sheer impact you can have on people by nothing more than mere words. Just putting things in such an order that the reader feels spoken to or connected to the faith of the story.

Why do you write? I mostly write for myself. Just to make my head clear, but also to reach out to people to make them think. Which apparently is almost forgotten by many these day's.

What makes you write what you write? Nothing specific, my current (and first actual go at it) project is something that has been in my mind for quite a while now. Just trying to get it on paper.

What Made you decide you liked to write? That's a personal note, I've been plagued by my own damned mind for far too long. And I've found out that writing soothes my mind to think more consistent instead of the enraged chaos it normally is.

What Do You Write? Currently I'm writing a book that mixes up Sci-Fi elements with Fantasy (How ever more of the last.) and trough it I randomly make some hints at our own reality.

All different situations in life...Relationships, memorable trips, amazing experiences, terrible experiences, and anything else that pops into my crazy head!

I write because I feel that there is no better way to get emotions and feelings across than through writing. A person reading a good piece of writing can truly feel the emotions of the writer, to a much higher extent than any other form of communication.

The feeling I get when I finish a piece and get my feelings out onto paper.

I write poetry, as well as songs.

I write because I have something to say and have no other outlet as effective and satisfying as the written word with which to convey my thoughts.

    What compels you to write?

Untold stories that are on the verge of being lost forever.

The story isn't always inside our head, it can be out there, out at your Grandparents house, maybe with an elderly neighbor or down at the senior center. What were their lives like in the early years? What do they remember about their parents or even their Grandparents? Old people's early memories become stronger as they begin to forget about today and when they do start talking, they tend to tell funny ones. You might be surprised. I'm just saying... they are a great source for material and you just might make a friend or two. Brownie points are good too.

    1. What compels you to write? It would have to be vivid dreams between the years of 1991-2003. Some characters in stories have been created this way. I have had character ideas since 1992 and started writing in 1994.

    2. Why do you write? Ideas get in my head almost all the time, so I have to write them down before they go away.

    3. What makes you write what you write? Since 2004, that would be inspiration, today's pop culture, vivid dreams (obviously).

    4. What made you decide you liked to write? That would be in high school, upon a teacher--seeing what I had written--had suggested I take creative writing classes. I did in my senior year, 2003-04.

    5. What do you write? There's no limit for me, so I would have to say "almost anything". I am learning new things almost every day and applying these things to new characters I create.

First off, I'm a reader, not a writer. But after 50 odd years of living, fighting, and sometimes dying alongside the characters of my literary heros, I feel the time has come to trap my own demon within the covers of a novel. Whether it turns out good or bad, is not for me to judge. but with some good advice, and hard work, maybe i will be able to sleep peacefully once again.

    ...and thats why i write.

I write because I have always had the urge to create. I am a published song writer, and a visual artist with some success. this is the first time I have tried writing short stories. I have spent my life creating things. I guess it's just what i do. I don't seem to have much choice in the matter, unless I want to make myself unhappy. Everyone has to do something.

Oh yeah. What do I write? So far I have been writing what I think are called Flash stories. Very short. Just getting my feet wet. I'll see what comes about after I start posting my stories on this forum and begin to get feedback.

I began writing very recently. It's really fun and I get to think alot. I learn more ways to express myself in texture. For me it's very interesting and I like being creative. My mind is like a ocean a space full of ideas, like many others. I just like to write those down and form a great story.

    What compells you to write?
I like to read what other people have written - I can read and reread as often as I want. Maybe others do the same with my writing.

    Why do you write?
It is effective communication - it can be referenced, consulted, (hopefully) cited if worthy. But why? There is something inside that needs to come out.

What makes you write what you write?
Crazy thoughts and life's inspirations. Sometimes life's frustrations and beat-downs.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
Great literature and great authors. Some writers have the ability to create an entire atmosphere out of words. I try to do that.

    What Do You Write?
For now, my daily observations and academic writing. I hope all of this will culminate into a work that someone else might read someday.

Writing is something I personally love. I have a large imagination and ideas flow into my head time and time again and with a little planning (and a lot of hard work), a story can be made out of them. They're fun to work on and sometimes the longer it takes, the better.
