I was going to work out a more elaborate dialogue with Backbiter over PM, but my muse seems to have left me at the moment and the recent post was all I could muster. Even so, I wanted to get something up to keep things moving.

@Backbiter, we can still PM to work out the rest of the dialogue if you would like.

Thanks for all your comments and nominations. I think the voting should begin soon. I'll see if I can start a poll thread once we converge on Magnalian.

    Guess I better do this...

    CheddarCheese (Atlas)

Decent characterisation as a whole, has created an dynamic, compelling character that knows his own limitations and sticks to them for the good of the story. Excellent writing, keeps me eager, and upper-tier grammar. Cheddar is definitely one of the most careful posters I've dealt with, always checking and discussing the next post willingly and diplomatically. Good luck man!

    Galeskies (Pyree Lasstor)

Excellent, descriptive writing style laden with wit and augmented with impeccable grammar and an interesting character. Rodrick hasn't met Pyree yet, but if they do I'm sure it would be... eventful.

    Magan (Magnafire)

Despite language constraints Magnan writes with his own unique and powerful style, weaving in more depth and story with every post than most, if not all the people on this forum. He also respects and easily distinguishes a character's main traits, which make it a-lot easier to plan further posts together.

Didn't you say English isn't your first language?

English is my first language, my mother tongue (think that's the term), learnt it when i was a child, and evolved it as I grew up, don't recall saying it was my second language though. Besides it doesn't matter. Plus my English is kind of rapid, as in I speak really fast, and tend to make no sense (could be because I live up North, the accents (geordie (Newcastle), mackem (Sunderland), etc) up here are very heavy and broad. As for my handwriting... don't get me started on that, I'm left handed but all attempts to write neatly fail (Thank goodness for computers eh) . Lol, so it may be my first language but even i make mistakes. I can probably be sure that there will be errors in this post, as i type fast....

Sorry man, this is rather embarrassing as I meant to offence. I also make mistakes, perhaps someone else on this forum said that and, being the retard I am, my memory decided it was you.

We can try to work out a dialogue whenever you want, and I can get a new post up. I'm not sure how often I'll be online, but we can just go back and forth until we have something that works.

My post will come later on this afternoon, plus my time on here will be reduced significantly, I'm resiting my English Unit 1 and 3, and history coursework, so I need time to revise and stuff, plus I want to go to Uni next year, I'll try and be on when I can.

Hey people I have a few minutes to post Dras's Character Sheet. However, if it seems incomplete it is because I may not have had the time to finish it entirely.

    Name: Dras-Morna

    Age: 113

    Gender: Female

Appearance: Dras is a Drow, also know as Dark Elves or Dunmer. Her skin, like most Drow is bluish in color, though some elves may lean more towad purple. Her particular shade of skin is like looking at deep blue water underneath ice. Her lips and eyelids are a darker shade of that same color. Her eyes are almond shaped and her irises red like all Drow. The Drow's red eyes betray one of thier innate abilites, the capability to use infared vision due to thier underground living habits. Dras's body structure is much like that of a dancer's, lithe but yet muscular. Some would say she looks like a delicate Cha-Cha dancer but she can knock a large man down with a single roundhouse punch. Dras's hair is black and cut short in a pixie-cut.

Personality: Dras is full of determination and can be as stubborn as a mule. She keeps her hot temper in check majority of the time because she knows her temper can get someone hurt. Because of her emotional control, dras often seems impassive to others.

History: Dras's history is unclear. Most of what we know is that her father was a mercenary, a free-lancer, and her mother was a Drow noble. As the story goes, her father was a guard for her mother's caravan. Nine months after the end of the job Dras's father found Dras on his doorstep with a note that said "Say nothing, or it will ruin me". Dras was raised by her father as a free-lancer like himself and became trained and excelled in the arts of stealth, Blade, marksman, and speechcraft. Later stories suggest she was contracted to kill a male Drow called Lan-Sarabi. He almost succeded in killing her and, by mutual agreement, they faked his death and he joined her on his escapades.

I will get to Dras's powers at a later date. Sorry

Interesting. Did you happen to get the "Drow" race from D&D by any chance, Morvane?

Also, very nice post by Magnan; would you like to carry on from there Rustic? Or should I?

Technically I used Drow in honor of the Forgotten Realms series, particularly the books with Drizzt Du'Urden in them. I didn't realize they were from a game until much later Lol. Now I shall get to Dras's equip/powers

Powers/Equipment: Dras carries an array of weapons, most of them light weight and usually used for a swift demise of a target. She carries a katana with her at all times as well as; some throwing stars, a silver dagger, a couple Sai, and a light weight bow with a quiver of 20 arrows. When she travels, Dras carries a small black leather bag with her to keep other miscellaneous things as well as rations and currency. As a Drow, Dras has some innate abilities as well as some learned abilities to aid her in getting a job done. Her innate abilities include the ability to summon a globe of darkness and the ability to ring someone with a harmless purple glow. Her learned abilities include the ability to conceal herself and blind a target for a small amount of time.

And that about sums up the Basics about Dras. If it pleases you all, I will now begin to write my rough draft for the next part of Dras's story and then post it when I worked out all the bugs. But before that I need to know some basics. Who has the orb currently and what is the terrain where the orb is located? Another thing I am unclear on is where does everyone end up after they cross the gates, and could I also have a terrain layout on that as well? I tried reading the posts but it quickly became confusing and it may take awhile for me to sort out all the individual stories so I know what I'm up against, such as people I might encounter during Dras's storyline. Sorry if i sound whinny, but i would like Dras's story to be sound.

The Orb is currently held by an evil NPC wizard (summoner) by the name of Magnalian. He is holed up in some sort of "stone laboratory", which I envision to be some kind of fort/tower type thing (although it hasn't been specified). The laboratory is circled by a deep chasm/ravine. Surrounding the ravine is a massive jungle, and even beyond that are farmlands with a few villages.

Currently everyone is near, at, or past the ravine.

Now and then, here and there
If you don't mind my summarizing:
The orb is currently in the possession of its creator, Magnalian the summonor. He is currently located in a clearing, surrounded by a monster infested jungle which he has summoned as an obstacle for seekers of the orb. All portals lead to the orb, but the exact location is up to the one posting to decide. You can pop out nearby and walk to another character like jesswrite did, or come out in a completely unmapped location like areadrill jumping out of the ocean, or ChedderCheese and Galeskies popped out right next to each other, same with Backbiter and The Magnan. Earlier in the story the portals were guarded by Magnalians minions, but have since left that task for more important duties.

The other terrain features of note (but left behind in the search for the orb) include: Scatterings of farmlands, a village charred to the ground by a dragon, a ghost village who's inhabitants had their souls sucked out, a ravine that splits the jungle in two, a system of caves connected to the ravine. All of the characters are currently in the jungle, except for Riley, who was whisked away by one of the summoner's minions, and is currently on the edge of the jungle and farmlands.

Also, welcome to the game Morvane. You don't sound whiny. As far as your character's storyline goes... well, things can be more than a little chaotic. It is up to you to decide your character motivations and create some continuity with the foreign world.

Again, welcome Morvane! The summaries from Cheddar and Galeskies were great, I would just add that Cheddar's interpretation of the raving/jungle orientation is more to my intention. Also, the portals are scattered throughout the land as Galeskies said, but there won't be any between the ravine and Magnalian's lair. He destroyed those ones early on, so you will have to cross the ravine somehow (you can PM me if you would like special permission to come in closer).

Magnalian's lair is a relatively small structure; a single story made of rough cut stone slabs. He's never needed more since he mostly kept to himself, (aside from harassing villagers and wiping out a race of ugly mind-reading creatures). The lab sits in a large clearing on top of a small gentle hill.

There are a lot of characters to work with here, you should be able to search their Bio's by entering a character's name into the 'Search Thread' option on the discussion thread. I'm glad you want Dras's storyline to be solid, but bear in mind that this particular game is full of surprises and you will have to adapt your story to fit with the game at almost every post, while at the same time remaining true to your player's history and character. But that's the fun :)

I figured as much. I would like to add that before anyone pulls me into thier story that they ask me first? I have been on one of these kind of forums and the others completely ruined a character I created, so I am very wary when it come to these things.

We try to keep a tight reign on that here. A lot of people communicate by PM, and work out dialog and whole scenes. Other times Characters will encounter each other and the fun comes in the unpredictable reactions of each character. But Character Controlling is strictly forbidden.

Where were you thinking of entering the story?

I was thinking I wanted Dras to have a shock to her system by entering a region that is as far removed from her home. I was thinking that maybe somewhere in the plains perhaps? Any suggestions?

Would the jungle not do it for your character? Or the ravine?

If you mean the plains beyond the jungle, you might be a little too far away from the action, and your character might end up without much to do.

I thought about the Ravine but the rocky outcroppings would be too familiar with Dras's home. The Jungle is an option though. Now tell me, should I go in a tree or on the ground? I thought about in the tree because when she falls out of it would make the story have more....realisim? I don't know :)

Its your call of course, but I would think the Jungle would be as far removed from the caves she is used to. To add a further shocker you could have her walk in on the space girl and her two flying friends

And @Everyone, I'm with holding the official nominations for orb holder until you get to Magnalian and the final battle begins. Voting will open then... so get your buts over there!
