    What compells you to write?
Because it is interesting to see your work when it is finished, it gives you a sense of pride even when it sucks (Which is most cases for me)
    Why do you write?
I like to express myself through my writing
What makes you write what you write?
... Depends how I am feeling, how hyper I am, and what I am thinking of at that current moment.
What Made you decide you liked to write?
When I first started reading Fanfiction, and I kept thinking, 'Why not and go ahead and try?' So I did... and it kind of went on from there
    What Do You Write?
I write things when the tone of the writing is either Anger, Angst.... betrayal, ect. I find that I can express things better with dark stuff. I do the occasional Poetry, but I mostly do short stories.

I write because I have tales to tell. Tales that I don't want to just die in my head, tales I want people to hear. I think it's my drive to share these tales that has made me take up writing. It is my only reason for writing and my only drive.

Writing is the most accessibl way to share these tales since I am only sub par at drawing.

Step outside of your daily reality, if you are kind my dear reader, and come venture with mine — if only for just one moment. Come with me to my stories. I pour them out of my imagination. Why, might you ask? Why would you come journey with me, instead of sitting at your desk, filling out paperwork, doing the boring homework?

Let me tell you why I write.

I write of the magical moments that spring from life and imaginarium. These moments, you see, come filled to the brim with what real life has often lacked us — curiosity. The curious emotions that come forth from me, they shew themselves in such many, many wonderful ways. I see the colourful clouds, high above in the stratosphere, during a sunset's peak. I see the blooming roses and irises, the violet within white within magenta, and the infinitesimal ways which its blossoming seeds may travel.

I see the people who populate our Earth, each person as varied as each withered brick or a fractal pattern. Each person their own lovely island of hope, happiness, and knowledge. Each person, deep inside, vying to pour out the contents of heart for another soul to understand. Maybe it is transcendental bliss? Or the lifetime sorrow they burden? Or maybe they just want to say that which mere words cannot?

And most of all, I see you. My dearest reader, have I have such high hopes in you. You might be thirteen, or thirty, and yet you might still feel your cup a little empty. And you try filling this emptiness with something outside, and you always still feel that little void. It nudges you on like a little child beckoning you forth with a smile and a hand.

I write because I find you beautiful. And if you read these words, whoever you may be, feel love. Feel loved. My stories are my little hugs, for that emptiness longing to be filled.

    What compels you to write?
Life. Perhaps it sounds all mystical and something of a bs answer, but it is mine. Life compels me to write. I see two people quarrel and I wonder, "Why?" Then I make a fanciful story to go along with it, to explain it. If that story never hits paper isn't the issue, it is the making of the story in the first place.

    Why do you write?
To explain things, to live lives I never will, to exorcise personal demons, and to calm myself.

What makes you write what you write?
Fiction has always been what I write, and I think it is because it lets me escape from my life. Just like a good book helps the reader escape. When I write, I escape into this other world, I become this other person. I see what the character sees, feel what they feel. And that escape is nice.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
I started writing on a roleplaying forum, so it was the bit that let me escape my life. Let me "live" a life that was more exciting.

    What Do You Write?
Fiction, Poetry occasionally, letters that are never meant to be read, and ramblings and free writing that I keep journals of and go back and reread occasionally.

What compels me to write is:
the vocabulary i have about how I feel, what I see and what I hear. Im very reserved so I talk less and write more.

I write because its my best convenient way to get the message across.

what makes me write what I write about is what I have stated above.

what made me decide to like writing is realising that I make more sence when I express myself in writing than when I talk hence I hate verbal interviews and I sucked big time.

Im more into editing and poetry and intend to publish a poetry book by Feb 2013 followed by a childrens book.

    What compels you to write?

I think this is a tough question to answer. A lot of things compel me to write, literally anything can turn into an idea in my head, whether it be a word or the shape of an object. Its hard not to make up little stories as I go along with my daily life.

    Why do you write?

I write because its something of a stress reliever. If I don't write something at least once every few months I get terrible headaches and get rather insane. If I don't write, it feels as if my feelings (mostly my negative ones) will consume me.

What makes you write what you write?

Mostly my emotions. I tend to write more angsty stuff (I'm trying to remedy that), so I guess I'm a ball of angst sometimes? Haha, my feelings go on the page, that's all I know.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

I'm not sure... I just wanted to write. I've been devouring books since I learned to read, so it just felt natural to come up with my own little imaginative stories as well.

    What Do You Write?

Like I mentioned above, I've written a lot of angst. Uhm, I also like to write for the supernatural genre, since I like ghosts and spooky stuff.

    What compells you to write?
I gather up stories in my mind. Writing them seems to free up my mind.

    Why do you write?
I write because I cannot play an instrument, I cannot sing, I cannot draw, and I trip up on my words in conversation. Only real form of storytelling I can partake in. It's also something I can share in with my friend.

What makes you write what you write?
It is definitely my environment. I am inspired by the most odd and obscure things. They shortly become a plot, and I'm stuck thinking about another story.

What Made you decide you liked to write?
I showed a talent at a young age which was recognised and encourage by my parents and teachers. I think I liked the recognition.

    What Do You Write?
Short stories, poems, comic scripts, beginning the undertaking of a novel and a film script. Currently plagued with ideas of: a thriller (Atreus), a gritty crime drama (BCF), a dystopian future (The New Mass), a comedy (Red and Ted), an action/comedy (Money for Nothing) and a gothic idea on the annihilation of a man (Untitled).

I'm 62, had a great life, retired and feel it's time to write down my memoirs. Not as boring as it sounds as my trade isn't one of the normal run of the mill jobs.

I just write when it comes to me and always rewriting it, up to the late 70s and got another 30 years to go. so need to buckle down and get writing. It's hard when the sun's shining and the garden beckons.

    What compells you to write?
It's hard to explain but I just get this feeling that I should write and that's pretty much what compels me.
    Why do you write?
It gives me something fun to do at the end of the day and feeds my horrible sleeping schedule.
What makes you write what you write?
This is pretty much the same exact question as number one.
What made you decide you liked to write?
My english teachers honestly did. I've never really had one I extremely disliked and I've always felt at home in those classes.
    What Do You Write?
I like stories that feel real and relative to people's lives. That's really the only way I can describe it.

While I'm only working on one project currently, I have a total of three ideas that were all inspired in a similar fashion.

What compells you to write? - noticing an apparent flaw in human nature, usually found within myself
Why do you write? - if the flaw is within myself, I write as a sort of personal moral lesson. If it's a "general" flaw, I write to make a point. And above all, I love to entertain.
What makes you write what you write? - as Lennon said, this is the same question as number one
What Made you decide you liked to write? - a lot of reading
What Do You Write? - so far, only short stories

What compells you to write? Well the ability to tell a story about a place or people or a situation
Why do you write? I guess because I can lol
What makes you write what you write? Hmmm inspiration maybe who knows I just write
What Made you decide you liked to write? I don't have budget or a time limit lol
What Do You Write? Short stories either based in a dark fantasy world I created or my recent found love of southern gothic I like to write dark dark stories involving awful deed's and even awfuller characters.

    What compells you to write?

The desire to create something that can be enjoyed by others.

    Why do you write?

I've always had a silver tongue, ever since I was a little boy, and people seem to adore the stories that I come up with. I feed on that adoration. Not that I'm an attention slut, I just love the spotlight that my writing brings me. I love to see the shock, or disgust, or surprise that flits across their faces when they finish reading.

What makes you write what you write?

Internal and external influences alike. I write in a variety of tones, whether it be dark and broody or bouncy and fun. Whatever suits my mood. I will however always try to make the reader laugh or think. There's nothing worse than a boring, lackluster story.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

I dabbled and played with writing when I was younger, but I decided to take up visual arts throughout my adolescent years (I'm 22). Lately though I've been more interested in the written word than the paint and canvas. I have a natural talent for writing that I never really had with paint. My words create a better picture than my hands ever did.

    What Do You Write?

I fiddle with contemporary fiction mostly. Sometimes I'll spin some fantasy or horror, but that's usually just for shits and giggles, or as something to warm up with. I like to be able to relate very closely with what I write, and contemporary literature fits my style perfectly.

    What compels you to write?

I think I have too much locked away in my head and it needs to get out. I spend a lot of time day dreaming so I figured why not turn that into actual narrative.

    Why do you write?

It's fun and I feel a sense of accomplishment doing it. Nothing makes me happier then when I write a line that I feel just clicks and is clever and fun. I get giddy.

What makes you write what you write?

Whatever inspires me. The hard part is sticking to one thing when something else becomes inspiring. A small part of what has inspired what I'm currently writing is the TV show Teen Wolf. I'm a huge fan. I also have been a huge fan of many paranormal thriller/romance/adventure type shows in the past. I also used to play VtM, WtA, and MtA back in the day.

What Made you decide you liked to write?

Nothing really made the decision. I've written stuff for college classes that professors have told me I should seek to publish the writing. I took my college English class in 2010 since I was coming back to school after like 5-6 years after High School. We had to write a fiction piece and I wrote it about my struggle with Sleep Apnea and my professor loved it. I focused primarly on the most important day that I remember which was the day I first started recieving therapy for it.

    What Do You Write?

I prefer it incredibly character driven but the setting needs to be compelling. I'm not going to say I am 1 type of author. I have a wide range of tastes in movie, music, and literature.

    What compels you to write?

The idea that all the thoughts meandering about my head could die with me. I need to get them down on paper. Or a word document. ;)

    Why do you write?

Because I get irritable if I don't. And people I've met, people who've read what I've written, tell me I have a creative mind. So I try to express that.

What makes you write about what you write?

A lot of my writing is to do with thoughts and ideas I have, whether they are political, social, philosophical, etc. Last year I went through a crisis of faith where I questioned my religious identity, and that experience formed the basis of my current WIP about a very fallible god.

What made you decide you liked to write?

Erm, Pokemon. Used to write fan-fic about it in primary school. And then I grew older and I still found myself writing to escape boredom, and...here we are.

    What do you write?

Speculative fiction, mostly. I like using casually impossible situations to explore societal issues. My current novel does this, and it is mainly character driven as a result (the plot lies in a development hell). :(

    What compells you to write?

Ideas are constantly bombarding me and every time I get new ideas, my brain gets bigger and bigger until, if I didn't get them out somewhere, my head would physically explode.

Scientifically speaking. Philosophically, I love characters, and getting to know them, getting into their heads. When I meet someone interesting, when I read a book with a character that interests me, I don't think, "What a great book." I think, "How can I get this for myself?" Do you call that Envy? Exploring the psyche is my favorite part of writing. I write because I'm not satisfied getting into my own head. I need to be in the heads of others.

    Why do you write?

Uh, see above? Also, when I don't (setting aside the whole head-exploding thing), well, I just get grumpy. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night just to write down strips of dialogue from my favorite characters. I have a constantly growing pile of sticky notes by my bed.

What makes you write what you write?

Although I'm at my best when I have diverse characters to work with, and dialogue is probably the strongest part of my stories, I need action. Some sort of obstacle to face, some goal to pass. That's why I write science fiction. It makes me think. It puts my brain to work. I mean, what would my characters do to pass the time if they weren't so busy time traveling and fighting evil robots? Going to the grocery store, I guess? Booooring.

What made you decide you liked to write?

I dunno. I was pretty young when I started, so it's not like I remember too well. I actually started writing words when I was around 7 but before that it was stories of all kinds, movies in my head. It's just fun, all the way around. Why would you need a reason? :)

Whatever it was, though, it wasn't reading. I hated books up until about the age of 12. Why I could write them but not read them I do not know.

    What do you write?

Like I said, anything that makes me think. Mostly sci-fi because the plots are complicated and fun and scientific and I have to have SOME way to connect to my inner nerd.

    What compells you to write?

I used to read fanfiction a lot, then I saw how much everyone loved these fanfics, so I decided to try my hand, and I liked looking back and seeing how many people read them.

That was a long time ago, I still write for other people's enjoyment, but now I try and take my own feelings into a piece to work.

    Why do you write?

To let my feeling out? IfI'm completely hating someone, I'll do a story about the same situation wth the same character types as what happens to me. It's like a diary... but less personal ^^

What makes you write what you write?

Boredom? I donno. I usually get these amazing plot lines in my head, and they swim around for days before I've had enough and I have to write them down. But after that, I'm lost. I try finishing the longer stories - I can usually finish up the short ones - but whenever I get passed that initial plot explosion, i loose it, and the piece is trashed :(

What Made you decide you liked to write?

Quizilla.... >.> I found a quiz on there that was fantastic. Tried my hand at it, and my first quiz was a mild success. I liked the success, so I kept writing. It made me feel good tha people were out there reading my stuff - evven though it was jsut fanfiction. I've recently started my own ideas, but I dont share those as freely.

    What Do You Write?

I loooooove horror. Or alternate realities. Love. Love. Love. So I usually write zombies, or apocalypse-esque things.
Characters are usually based on me and my friends and family, and how I feel about them.

    What compels you to write?

I guess it's probably the ideas that come to me, and wanting to turn them into a fully-fledged story and world. Giving "life" to all the characters and using my imagination to create places that don't exist is something that I find extremely fun and interesting.

    Why do you write?

A mix of my answer to the first question, and because I get bored sometimes :p Plus, some of the assessment tasks I do for school require me to write stories that are of a certain length, and usually the ideas I use for those stories seem pretty cool in the first place, so I turn them into longer versions of what I wrote for school (it's a good way of getting early feedback too). Although as well as that I realised a few years ago that my writing actually sparks emotion in people, which I thought was great. I gave short story I wrote to one of my female friends, and she told me that she was bawling by the end of it. I didn't expect something like that (it was meant to be a sad story though, so I guess I did pretty well) but after learning that I can make people feel all these emotions with just my words, I got a new drive for writing that I didn't have before.

What makes you write what you write?

Mostly just because it's what I like to read. I'm not going to write a romance novel any time soon, because I don't enjoy reading them.

What made you decide you liked to write?

A combination of many things. The spark of interest when a new idea starts to form in my mind, the feeling of accomplishment when you finish that first draft, when you finally finish editing the story and the feedback (good, bad, helpful or otherwise) you get after first showing it to someone. Knowing that you can connect with people through a story is a good thing, and is one of the big reasons why I do this.

    What do you write?

Like I said before, what I enjoy reading. That mostly consists of action/adventure, fantasy, horror, sometimes sci-fi and even a little bit of drama. Although I read a wide range of stuff, I generally stick to action/adventure, fantasy and the occasional sci-fi story. That being said, I also enjoy reading, learning and understanding historical events, people and places, so I plan on writing a historical-fiction novel one day. One day.

    1. I just love writing.
    2. Because I cannot stop myself. I love it.
    3. I am always coming up with crazy ideas; lot's of thoughts. I have been that way since I was young, and can never get over it. Even a simple question on the internet can leave me scrambling a reply of thoughts; thoughts that are vivid, and rows of words & letters creating one simple meaning. I could just simply write, but that is just too boring for me. I must output the thoughts of what I see and feel.
    4. I write little stories; mostly novels of fiction. I adore writing lyrics and manga stories. I am hoping to become a writer of an anime/manga series. I love creating characters, and believe writing characters for anime/manga is a great way to create them.

As a remark, I would like to say this is a pointless question. Whomever reads this and replies must realize our words will never be heard. Many are just self-thoughtful. They will just click the button of magic, and hope flesh of greatness will find them. All has been said, and do not take this remark personal Raven. Not many are so, but there are many as such. I, for example, have read replies of this thread. Many are great and inspirational, but there are some that are in the obvious. I am sure we are all great brains of storms. We will fulfill our true destiny, and live a world of happiness.
