Hello everyone! Please pardon my belated greetings. I was busy writing. My brief bio: I'm originally from India, but I grew up in the United States. Storytelling has always been one of my strong points, even from my elementary school years. But growing up, I experienced life challenges that precluded me from writing fiction. However, a recent spark of inspiration renewed my interests, and I've been writing ever since. At the moment, fiction writing serves as a hobby for me, but it may develop into more serious publishing endeavors in the future. I enjoy writing fiction in general, but I especially enjoy writing mysteries. I'm pursuing a medical career. So, I plan on incorporating elements of medicine into my mysteries. Moreover, I'm an ardent follower of Hindu spiritual traditions and philosophies. I find that it has great, practical applications to our lives, even in modern times. So, elements of its teachings and principles might be sprinkled throughout my works of fiction, not as a teaching tool but as a basis for adding a unique dimension to my characters. In addition to the other prominent resources for writers such as StackExchange and Reddit, I find that this site is a great resource. I'm ever so grateful for the generous help I've received on this site, and my fiction writing has improved as a result. I hope to succeed in my efforts to write enjoyable works of fiction that are perhaps worthy of publication. I extend my warm greetings to all the newcomers to this site and wish everyone a successful writing experience. Cheers!
Well happy 2nd birthday! Looks like it's been exactly 2 years. I did have to scratch my head seeing an introduction thread, newly created, by a familiar name I've seen on the board many times.
Hi Xoic, thanks! I actually just now noticed the New Member Introductions forum, hence my belated post. See you in the forums!
Hello! Good to see a colleague here.) Your writing and storytelling skills are obvious - one just has to look over this short bio.) I'm also quite jealous of your grammatical knowledge... I still have to work on it, a lot.)
Hi LucatheRat! It's a pleasure to meet a fellow medical professional on these forums here. I see you're a newcomer. Welcome to the forums! Thank you for your compliments. Non-fiction writing does come naturally to me. But, fiction writing is a different beast, which requires learning a different set of writing techniques. However, I still find it a very enjoyable experience, both as an author and as a reader; with the help of this site and others, my fiction writing skills are improving greatly. Good luck with your writing projects, fiction or otherwise. See you in the forums!
Hi RightWrite! You've been here for yonks, so you probably know I'm one of the forum moderators. It seems a bit silly for me to say welcome to the forum, when you've already been an active member for two years ...almost to the day! Anyway ...hello from a fellow forum member who has also never written a New Member Introduction! Yep. Me neither. It's interesting to hear about your life and your goals, though. I never realised you were originally from India, and didn't know you had a medical career in the making either. This will give you a bit of weight when you tell stories involving mysteries, and the Hindu philosophy will make an interesting contrast to the likes of, say, Agatha Christie! I like that you're writing for fun, as something you do for enjoyment while you pursue a different career. I look forward to continuing to see you around the threads. Cheers for now, Jan
Hi jannert! Thank you for your reply. Yeah, I never had the urge to paint a self portrait... Finally decided to pick up the brush... Fiction writing as a hobby has proved to be very enjoyable. And experimenting with the inclusion of medical tidbits and Hindu philosophies should provide even more enjoyment. I also look forward to continue to see you around in the threads.
