help me find the word please

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by Stormsong07, Nov 13, 2020.

So I'm working on a part where a character is tense and stressed and waiting for someone to return, and that makes the waiting seem to take forever, even though in reality it wasn't that much time. I feel like there is a word for this, but for the life of me, I can't come up with it.

My sentence reads thus: "The wait seemed indeterminable, every stray sound making Liam twitch."

However, I know "indeterminable" isn't quite the word I'm looking for. My brain keeps suggesting "in-" prefix words for some reason. Inexplicable? No. Infinitesimal? No. Maybe it's not even an "in-" prefix word.

Does anyone know the word I'm searching for?

    I think you mean interminable.

    Yes, this. Means without end.

    Indeterminable means cannot be determined.

I have heard interminable too. But for something which is long and boring. For example: interminable speech

Yesss, thank you @Seven Crowns, that's it. Lol, I knew there was a reason my brain kept suggesting "in-" words. I was close, just couldn't quite remember. Thanks again.
