I'm not sure I want to start one but the times I did look into it I could not figure out how to start a blog. There is this "Create Entry" button at the Blogs section of the website, but that's meant to make a post on an existing blog, which I do not have. So, in short, how do you create blogs...?
I'm not entirely sure, because I already had a blog when we switched over to the new blogging system, so I didn't have to start one in this system, but if you have a 'Create New Entry' button, then probably you make a blog by making an entry. I would at least just try that.
I just checked in the FAQ section. and it doesn't show how to start a blog, only how to create a new entry, but it also says if you're a member (been here two weeks and have a certain number of posts) then you can blog. So I'm sure that's all you have to do. I think your blog will automatically have a generic name like ps102's Blog, but you should be able to edit that afterwards. That's how it worked when I started mine anyway.
I already tried that unfortunately. It just brings me to a "Not Found" page since there's no blog to post to. So, yeah, this might be a job for the admins or its really hidden in there somewhere.
I'm on mobile and get the same error. You're supposed to be a 'member' which would apply to both of us, in order to create a blog entry. It's possible the permissions have been changed, or there is a bug where only 'member's can create one now and not 'senior' members or contributors. Or the admins may have changed it to request only, although the FAQ doesn't reflect that.
Okay - I did some poking about and talked to some other admins on other forums and this is the sitch our blogs used to run on the XF1 native blog system, but the problem with that was that if we upgraded to XF2 we would lose all the blog content So Daniel decided to install a plugin called UBS Blogs and transfer the content over to it - that transfer was what caused the blog glitches in 2021/22 For those that don't know Xenforo depends very strongly on user groups, with different groups having different permissions. Our set up is a little strange, with everyone (except staff) being in a primary user group called 'new member' and then the user groups for new member, member, senior member etc being secondary user groups. Is appears that when we set the UBS controls for the user group 'new member' to not be able to create a blog (to stop all the 'buy russian mail order wife very beautiful nymphomaniac' etc blog spam) it applied it to the primary user group not the secondary one, meaning that no one but staff can create a blog For reasons that don't bear going into (relating to one of the original team going off his cams back in 2009) I am an Admin but not a Super Admin, meaning that I don't have all the access you might expect in the back end, and i don't for example have full access to control how the UBS plug in functions. The upshot of this is that the only fix i have available to me is to turn the create blog function back on for new members which ought to allow you all to create blogs... however this would also allow everyone including spammers to create blogs leading us back to the blogs about how its a great idea to give your credit card details in order to access very beautiful and genuine girls (which also risks tanking our SEO rating via allowing dodgy backlinks.) so we don't really want to risk it As it stands those that already have blogs can still post blog posts, its just the creation of completely new blogs that's screwed up. So I think given the relatively small demand that we'll leave this sleeping dog alone in case it wakes up and bites us in the ass, at least until we are able to transition to XF2 My best suggestion in the meantime for anyone wanting to create a new writing blog is to do it on blogger or wordpress or whatever and link it in your signature (which we won't treat as spam so long as the blog isn't packed with sales links)
Yep they do - that's because they are on XF2 and their admins are also their owners... same thing applies if anyone wants to link their .com blog in their signature here that's fine too
You could create a blog on a blog site, (or the .com writer's forum) and post a status update with the link when you have a new blog post, assuming status updates are approved for such use.
So, basically, there is no way to create a blog even if the admins wanted to help with me with that. I'm not sure I want to link external blogs so if it can't happen, oh well, it can't be helped.
As i said we'd prefer people to use their signatures, status updates with links in them will get flagged as spam and be a pain in our ass to sort the wheat from the chaffe At this point in time that's correct i hope one day we'll get it sorted but its out of my control so i can't promise - you're a member on the .com site, so i'd suggest blogging there
