    Hello hello

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Hyzenthlay, Oct 24, 2024.

I've actually been lurking around here for quite a while but I decided to finally say hello and maybe join in some discussions.

I'm in my 30s and I've been writing stories most of my life, though I've only recently started getting good at actually finishing them.

I've written quite a few different genres, but nearly everything I write is YA or NA. I write purely for my own enjoyment and don't currently have any plans to publish or even share my work. I hope that's okay?

I'm looking forward to spending more time in the forums. Thanks for having me!

(When I went to make an account it turned out I already had one... when I say I've been lurking here, I don't mean since 2008!)

Thanks! Yeah it was my favourite book in middle school. The name kind of stuck with me.

The choice to publish or not is entirely yours. This community is more focused on writers helping writers improve their craft, no matter their goal.

Welcome! You say you've written in different genres, which one is your favourite so far?

Ahh that's hard to say. I used to enjoy romcoms the most, but I think that's partly because I was scared to write the fantasy/sci-fi ideas I had. I just finished a space opera and it took me way out of my comfort zone, but it's also been one of the most fun things I've written, once I got past being overwhelmed by all the worldbuilding and research involved.

I do still love writing romcoms though!

Space opera is lovely. Yeah the research and worldbuilding can be daunting. Good to hear you had fun.
