Novel What would you call a novel-length prologue?

I'm working on a story, I really like it and I know it's in part due to its departure from my usual headspace. The working title is 'Prologue' because I'm terrible with titles, and it may remain the working title for some time. However, I looked up in various places what Prologue and Epilogue really mean, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't work? I'll be honest I'm not an avid reader, and I am no writer, but I have consumed a very large amount of fiction in my life and, in more recent years, digested parts of it I never though I could. Maybe a quick explanation of what I'm working with would help.

It's a story made of patchwork parts from a years-long dissection and distancing from a poorly aged work of mine. This story is different in comparison because it is much more down to earth, not just in narrative and general concepts but also in my goals for it as a product.
The 'Prologue' focuses on the life of a boy named Hamal, living in a small fishing village closed off from the rest of the world. This part of the story is mainly about who Hamal is, why, and how he ends up the way he does. Slowly he starts to lose the pillars of his life and realizes that he is too reliant on others to keep himself together. Several experiences in his teens, social and physical, engrain within him a melancholic sense of mortality, and the silent but chaotic deconstruction of his house and village life leave him with a bleak yet stalwart obligation to life. Long story short the village is destroyed by a catastrophic event that sets up an antagonist, everybody dies but him, he runs into the forest and eventually the next part of the story starts.
See my thing is, I think I started with it called the 'Prologue' because that's what it was supposed to be: a quick blurb about this character that gets plopped into a fantasy adventure. But then I started to think about why I chose Hamal- out of all the characters in my previous story why was Hamal the main one for the reboot? Then I realized the reason I upturned the whole story was because I don't really care about Hamal's adventures in whatever fantasyscape, I care about Hamal. Hamal has always struck a chord with me, and I want to give him, and perhaps by some extension myself, a sole spotlight.

I think my game plan at large is to just make a character driven story, and then see what I want to do from there. The 'Prologue' is still what I call it despite knowing full well that I care about it more than what's after. It is made in substantial part with the intention of preceding another work, although I want it to be a standalone project. Maybe the reason I don't want to call it just "Episode One" is because, well then where's the second one after it's done?

Dang this got really long, huh? It's really late, but I'm glad I finally made a post here again, hopefully this time with more purpose, and maybe I can hold a better discussion about it in the morning. Moderators, feel free to move it to a more appropriate channel if this doesn't fit well here.
