    Newbie!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Blotted Ink, Jan 26, 2022.

    Hi!

I am a newbie here and had read some interesting articles and such. The community here seems great. I really just wanted to join somewhere where I could learn a lot and possibly get some feedback.

I don't think I've completely decided on any one genre. I am heavily inspired by Christian author Francine Rivers, as I am a Christian.

But I have also written horror shorts in the past. Not good, mind you...

I have wanted to write a book since I was five. Yet, while in school, I wrote nothing for myself. All I focused on was papers and projects I had to complete for the top grades. Now I've graduated undergrad, and I'm in a job that has nothing to do with writing-- except emails. I feel like I've wasted so much time. I'm not even sure if anything I write will ever see the light of day.

All I know is that I need to write and be in contact with a community that needs to write too!

    Welcome to the party!
Christian authors are heavily under-represented in many genres...personally, I have never understood why you can't write almost anything and include faith in it. Growing up I was very much a fan of Frank Peretti. This Present Darkness used to give me the feeling demons were watching me from the dark. Good times.
Don't worry about the light of day. Worry about getting it from your imagination to paper--that's the first step. Welcome again, look forward to seeing you around.

Thank you for your welcome! I agree with you as well. If you have faith, of any kind or religion, I think it only fair for it to be reflected in what you write. Whether it be what you struggle with or otherwise. Isn't that what writing is all about? Fiction is a bridge to real life, reflecting the real in a way readers can empathize and learn.
