    @ on MacBook Pro?

Discussion in 'Writing Software and Hardware' started by madhoca, Mar 10, 2013.

My daughter got a new mac yesterday, and there is no @ sign on its keyboard (it's a Turkish keyboard, but that's almost identical to the English one). We've Googled but nothing comes up about it. The shop we got it from is closed on Sundays. Anyone have any ideas?

@ is usually on one of the number keys on a Mac, Shift 3 or 4 or something like that. That is on a UK keyboard though, Turkish may be different.

Nope--there is no @ symbol on any of the keys (on the Turkish keyboard it's usually under the Q). Thanks anyway.

How do I enter the at sign (@) on a MacBook Pro?

    Solution

To write the at sign, simultaneously press the Alt + 2 keys

It's normally on on the number 2 key. Sounds like just a difference in keyboard. Mine doesn't have a hash on it, to be fair (which makes Twitter a bloody nightmare at times - the shortcut is actually alt and 3, but it takes a while to work that out).

Is it a Q keyboard or an F?

F keyboards the @ symbol is the letter F
Q keyboards the @ symbol is the letter Q

I do believe that by holding the ALTGR key (and sometimes the ALTGR with Shift if you have more than two symbols on the keyboard) will allow you to access character symbols.

Here I found a link if you do have a Q keyboard http://www.smartkeyboardsolutions.com/sks_pdf/Turkish-Q-Labels-Guide.pdf

    Hope this helps!

Thanks, it's a qwerty-style keyboard with a few minor differences. But the @ isn't accessed there. Or anywhere else, it seems. Ditto hash.

Perhaps a google search would be a more efficient way to solve such a problem. :)
