Just puzzled over this sentence format for LEDS. Natalya had already eaten so he cooked up a microwave meal. As he watched the LEDs count down he thought about when he was a young teenager.
I sometimes have to write about LED lights for my job and I always do it like that - LED. I don't think I've ever pluralised the acronym itself. Does a microwave have multiple LEDs? If it does, that's how I'd do it <
I'd use the word 'timer' instead of LEDs in this context, as it's a clearer indication of what the character is looking at. 'Microwave's display' would be another option.
And I just read a book where this word shows up. Can't remember how they put it, but I've always been a fan of clean punctuation, so I always prefer no periods in my acronyms if I can get away with it. Maybe say "digital timer"?
