I'm going on holiday soon (cannot wait) and plan to spend a lot of time reading. What are your book recs? Something you enjoyed recently, or your favourite of all time? I'll read anything except YA or fantasy. Particularly fond of horror but really not fussy about genre.
Skeleton crew by Stephen King ( a collection of short horror stories ) Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing ( an incredible true story of survival) Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson The Anatomy of Story: 22 Steps to Becoming a Master Storyteller By John Truby The Martian by Andy Weir
The Dark Half by Stephen King Murder London-New York by John Creasey Appointment in Hell by Vernon Warren
- "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman (it can be a little bit racey) - "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett - "The Dandelion Clock" by Jay Mandal (You can only get this online, but it's my top favorite book.) - "Mr. Mercedes" by Stephen King So far I'm also enjoying "Assassin's Creed: The Secret Crusade". The writer isn't too bad and it's kind of a historical fiction because the game's historical fiction.
Moon is a Harsh Mistress - Robert Heinlein Wishful Drinking - Carrie Fisher Embassy town - China Meiville Two science fiction, and a hilarious autobiography. Pass the time well.
I'll challenge you with a YA classic (as far as I'm concerned) called the transall saga by Gary Paulson. Had a heavy impact on me, by far one of the best books I've ever read.
The Necromancer's House by Christopher Buehlman(A Dark Comedy Horror) Neuromancer by William Gibson(A Cyberpunk Classic) Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson(A Cyberpunk Dark Comedy) The Tomb, The Keep by F. Paul Wilson(Two excellent and overlooked Horror novels) Anything by Clive Barker A Shadow over Baker Street by Various Authors(A Compilation of Sherlock Holmes solving crimes with Cosmic Horror themes) The Prague Cemetery by Umberto Eco(A Historical Mystery) -SIN
Twitchy Eyes - Joe Donnelly Has a Stand by Me/First half of 'IT' vibe to it. One of my favourite books. I think I even cried at one point.
You have good taste, sir. ^^ Always a fan of people who enjoy good genre fiction. Which ones do you like? Given your obvious love of Lovecraft, I hope Shadows over Baker Street is in your collection. If not, you would love it. I admit I'm a sucker for Cyberpunk and Horror. Would love if someone combined the two but I can't think of a great example of that off the top of my head. -SIN
