The Tribes of NoLands These people are the epitome of extreme. They stay hopped up on speed and various other types of uppers and live a life of debauchery and violence. Neons are at constant war with one another, dividing themselves up by the color of neon tattoos they have on their bodies. Each tribe has a unique mix of the ink that gave them their signature colors to differentiate one another from their enemy tribes. From head to toe, these people are covered in bright glowing tattoos; even going as far as inking their genitals. In a show of strength over the common folk, they inject themselves with the ink so that their veins glow, as well. Through countless generations, they injected themselves little by little, gaining an immunity to the toxins. They were, however, only immune to the mixtures their own tribe used. If they were injected with an enemy's ink, it would kill them outright. Any outsider that was not invited to the villages, were subjected to a worse fate. They were stripped and beaten until their bones were broken. Then they would begin tattooing tribal markings on them (which color was dependent on the tribe). Once that was completed, they would inject you with the ink and leave you up on a cross, outside the limits of the villages, as a warning to those that would ever dare to venture through. If you were lucky, you would die during the beatings, if not, then god help you.
I guess the questions is, where do I post creative writing, to get thoughts on ideas, such as this? I'm still new, and I already read through the guide. I still am having a difficult time navigating the page. I thought this was the correct areas to post it, but I may be wrong.
I think with release of endorphins and other pleasure inducing chemicals produced by the brain, would make it no more worse than getting a tattoo anywhere else. Of course most people would skip the genital region, there are still a fair amount that will cover their entire body in ink, meaning they are not bothered by the sensation, due to the 'addictive' nature of the experience of getting tattooed. So, the more tattoos one has, the more they would be able to handle handle getting them virtually anywhere on the skin. However, it would take an extremely rare individual to actually get the sclara (white part of the eye) inked as well. But more than likely there are far more that would have pierced genitals over getting them tattooed. And there is a percentage that have both done. Supposing all of that, it really depends on the persons pain tolerance. Cause there are people that look 'tough', but can't handle much of anything in terms of pain and managing it. Though the more exposure to painful activities, will train the brain to ignore or play down the physical sensations over time. So people who are exposed to say a regular amount of fighting for instance, would manage their pain reception much better than someone who does not get any type of exposure like them. Mind you there will be even fewer of those that undergo these painful activities that may turn into full blown masochists, and will find far more pleasure from the pain and actively seek it due to the brains rewarding effects. Mind you that adrenaline can for a short time completely dull the pain receptors, allowing a person to not notice any physical damage to the body. The relationship of the brain and the body is a pretty cool thing.
I really appreciate how in depth you went with that particular detail. Do you know anything on the effects of bioluminescent type inks, if added to the skin? It would be interesting if this were a possible thing.
Only UV reactive ink, which lasts 2-3 years based on what I have researched. Though bio-reactive luminescence in gene spliced fish, from a genetic splice with bio-luminescent Jellyfish genes, seem to last a lifetime of the fish in question. In theory I suppose, an ink derivative would last for a good long while, given the fish gene splice theory. Though there are fungus that have similar properties which may be more compatible with humans, since fungi and humans share a good deal more genetic traits from a commonality stand point. It really falls down to compatibility between genus, and whether it would be toxic or not to use those properties from a jellyfish or fungi with that of a human since it hasn't been studied in any traditional sense. Which leads to a bit of hand-waving since there is no known answer as to how it would affect a human 'host'. Though it may also be harvested from some squid that also exhibit similar luminous aspects. Though as far as I know UV Ink is the only known human compatible version of sub-dermal inks to be known to work without too much interference from reaction to the host, so to speak. I wish I could be more matter of fact, but that is mine/and science as we know it's, understanding concerning luminescent ink and the human dermal tissue, in regards to how it will affect it. But in all probability fungi/jellyfish based inks might be functional based upon how toxic the chemicals are in relation to humans.
That's pretty awesome. Thank you for being such a fountain of info. I always wondered how realistic any of my ideas could be. I have a major Character that uses bioluminescent jelly, covering the inside of their mouth, as part of their intimidation tactics.
