I think he meant how do you write the events name, like 9/11 or September 11, 2001 To answer that I've seen both. It's a personal preference, for this specific one anyway.
You could be a lot clearer in your post. By write I thought you meant, like, literally, the act of writing the story. 9/11 does seem to be the way everyone's using it when they're talking about it in that context.
You have to answer why he was enraged. It sounds like you are writing a war story that started at 9/11/2001 is this right? If you are asking how to write the story, we can't tell you how to write your own story or it would be our story not yours.
Ummm yeah. I would think it is a war story that started that day (what else would you call it?). And he just wanted to know how to word the EVENTS name. Not how to write the story......
He missed some punctuation. It should have been.... How do you write events, specifically, "9/11"? I knew what he meant though. I wasn't trying to be snippy, sorry Jim. It was the war comment, like you didn't know what 9/11 is that got me. Apologies.
it's up to you... just be consistent in whichever way you choose to write it... don't do it one way at first and another later...
In my story The Money Pit, I use 9/11 in narrative, but nine-eleven in dialog.... Should I change, that, mammamaia?
