Punctuation Using a question mark to show sarcasm

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by mashers, Jul 24, 2017.

I want to show that the line of dialogue was spoken with a rising intonation. She is saying it sarcastically because the other character did not thank her. Is a question mark the correct punctuation for this? I know it’s not technically a question, but it is said with a questioning tone, and is almost questioning in intention (I.e. “are you going to say thank you?”)

Works for me. I read it exactly the way you described (before I read your intention).
