    Acorns in the Fall?

Discussion in 'Research' started by LMThomas, Jan 2, 2019.

    Hi, everyone,

I am writing a story that takes place in New England in late October. Would there be a possibility that there would be acorns falling from oak trees (i.e. then making a noise) at that time of year? Thanks.

I've never noticed a significant noise, but it's certainly the right time of year for them to be dropping.

I don't know about New England, but in California you can sure hear them drop from the higher reaches of the older oak trees. Especially in the waning days of Autumn. It's usually after a gust of wind or a flock of birds scatter from a tree.

Having lived in New England I can say yes, as long as there is no snow covering things yet.
