The Debate Room has reopened, but all the threads are locked. Are we to start new ones about existing topics?
oopsie, i've unlocked threads from the last three months... if there are others you particularly want open let me know. I've also turned off the autolocker in there, which should have been locking threads after three months inactivity but appears to have actually been locking them three months after creation... thing eleventy that aint working as it should
Hi, is the debate room still open? I believe I've fulfilled the requirements now, but may be too dimwitted to see it!
sadly yes... if i had 100% control i'd nuke it from orbit as its the only way to be sure. since i can't, yes you should have access, its a sub forum of the lounge. Point of note since we're not allowed to turn it off, its a maintained as a place for civilized intellectual debate and inquiry, its not a replacement for facebook, not is it an anything goes fight club
The first time I looked at that place soon after I qualified for it, I'm fairly sure my IQ dropped by several points.
I would be in favour of changing the debate room to only debate writing related topics. I knew my debate room Alien thread would mentally disable my writer competitors!
I always thought having a Debate Room was a wonderful idea. Not just that I do like discussing current events and stuff - the best part is that if someone starts posting about politics or some other divisive topic in a writing thread, you can say, "Hey! Take it to the Debate Room!" thus sparing other users from that sort of content if they don't want to see it.
