How do you guys feel about one letter names? For example, if one of my characters had a V-shaped birthmark and I wanted to name him V? It makes sense when you say it out loud ("Vee") but I'm worried how it would look on paper. "Hello, my name is V." "V, huh? That's an unusual name. Nice to meet you, V." "There you are, V! I've been looking everywhere for you!"
It certainly has precedent- O, Q, etc. V of course is the name for the title character of V for Vendetta.
I have a character who goes by P in the bars and Chaz in real life. Her real name is Peaches so you can see why she tends to hide it. Her sister is Rain and a brother was Earth but changed it to Ethan when he joined the Marines.
Death Note as the character "L" Men In Black, they have 1 letter names. agents "J" and "K" Arthur's sister goes by "DW" With all of those examples, though, they have longer names but are known by their letters (except for L.... L's name is "L Lawliet" though I'm not sure if he goes by "L" because its the first letter of Lawliet" OR if Lawliet is is last name and his first name IS "L"). I dont think it would look weird on paper
