This could just be me, but has anyone else noticed that writingforums.com has taken the top Google search result? This is when I search for 'creative writing forums' to get here (I don't like bookmarks, sue me). Now the eighth result is the first .org one, and it's a link to the 'general writing' forum . Kind of a bummer. I guess this is more just lamentation about Alphabet nonsense than anything...
If I search for 'writing forum' (using Bing) the first site listed is .com and the second is this one.
For me, it comes up second after WF.com, which is in alphabetical order. I frequent both. I think it has to do with your own browsing history.
It's back to normal as the top result for me today. Weird. I don't even have history that should affect it because I do all my browsing in incognito mode (can't stand history autofill in the address bar).
It’s top for me but that’s because I’m here all the time and searches mostly follow history on an anonymous account .com. Comes top with us second
As someone who has posted on both this forum and the .com, I do wish one of the two would change their url to make it less confusing. Not that I would know how to do that, but still, they've got to stand apart in some way.
no ones going to do that because you'd drop most of your seo - you'd be stating nearly from scratch, not to mention that you'd drop a bunch of members
The names might be very similar, but the actual look is very different. I get a very different 'vibe' from that green background.
The .com one (Shelbyville) hurts my eyes. I'm probably just not accustomed to it because I'm not a memberoni. This one is so clean, sort of like an enema for the eyes.
