So, I'm sure at least some of you have heard about Google translate's end times message. What most of you probably don't know, however, is that you have been able to get weird messages from Google translate for a while now, as evident by this video published last year. I started to mess around with it, and I honestly don't know where it's getting what it says from. It seems like some of it is just gibberish, some is ripped off of websites or emails, and some seem to be almost proverbs. Now I'm no expert on this stuff by any means, but my best guess at the moment is that it is a privacy issue, and it is somehow taking phrases and words either off of websites or out of some sort of database. I believe that what you type is relevant to what it says, at least in some cases. For example if you type "<h tm l>" over and over it will eventually display "href" in the middle of all the gibberish, which is the code used to reference a link in HTML. Spoiler: For size Additionally, sometimes you can get stuff like this: Spoiler: For size Anyway, just something I found rather interesting and I thought I'd share it with you guys. Feel free to talk about your thoughts or anything interesting you find below
Did a bit more digging and found a Reddit post where someone literally found a Somali news bulletin. This further suggests that it is taking phrases from some type of database or something...
Found another Reddit post where someone was able to get it to say "please contact us" by typing "ca ni co nt ac ty ou", further suggesting that 1). it's taking text from the web and 2). what it puts out can be related to what you type in. (P.S. Sorry that I keep posting on here, but I'm rather interested by this and I want to see what others think as well as show what I've found, and this is pretty much the only place I frequent )
Haven't heard of it, but this sounds like a good place to bump the Your story, through Google Translate thread.
