    Hello everyone! Overcoming the shame!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Derryl, Mar 21, 2023.

    Hi All

I was a member a few years ago and enjoyed the experience.
For me writing brings up a lot of shame, something I've been working on for many years. At the same time, it also brings up a lot of joy, so I spend a lot of time wrestling with myself, lol!
What I like most about this forum is the critiques I've received in the past, a tremendous way to grow as a writer!
Critiquing others is a challenge but I'm learning as I read through the forums.

    Cheers
    Derryl

Put on your readers hat, and go through the story. Note what does and doesn't work for you as a reader. Then think about why a particular scene doesn't work. Put your self into the authors place, and aim your critique at what would help you as an author fix a problem.
