    Duh Moments

Discussion in 'Discussion of Published Works' started by MzSnowleopard, Sep 28, 2020.

I'm sure a lot of us have had them. I had one just the other day- I did my first reading on chapter one of my 'break-in' novel. It is amazing what reading aloud can do for perception on the words. As I was reading I heard myself revising. But this isn't my duh moment.

The duh came after in the responses. One gentleman questioned the presence of one specific character. This portion of the scenario seemed to do little more than inject an aspect that throws off the entire story. He's the first to either notice or comment on this character. The gentleman was right, this character's presence distracts from the main idea of the story. He's a good, solid character but being in this chapter doesn't work. I have been contemplating a revision of this part of the story. Now I know I need to remove it. Duh!

Anyone else care to share a duh moment?

It was only last week I learned Trainspotting was set in Edinburgh and not Glasgow.
