Embarrassing Searches in the name of Reseach!

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by J.T. Woody, Oct 10, 2024.

The thread on murder/crime research had me thinking about searches that i was hesitant and down right embarrassed about (i vaguely remember a thread like this, so apologies if there is one already).

2 searches have sent me Incognito browser and looking over my shoulder.

    1. The MC in one of my WIPs at the time, is pregnant. So i did a ton of research on symptoms and medical complications, and size of fetus at X stage, etc.. i got my whole family (and in laws) asking me why i dont have kids. In my mind, i didnt want them or my husband to get the wrong idea.
    2. My MC in my current WIP has been in a bad accident. He suffers multiple head to toe injuries. One of which is losing a testical. Soooooo..... i googled what that looked like:bigoops: (as well as longterm effects).
Lol, to date, these are my most embarrassing searches while researching for characters ad stories.

Among general disturbing topics, I tried to also find out if you could hang someone with their guts...

Ow, and I could answer your nr 2 question...

Edit, I mean I could answer about the long-term effects and such, not show you anything! Lol, hope that was clear.

    Yep you were clear :superagree:
And, i think i have my answers. I just have to tactfully write it.
(There is a scene in the middle where he goes swimming in the nude, and all of his scars and deformations are on display)

I found out what the typical tensile strength of human guts were, but I never took it further. I think my plan was to look up the tensile strength of different types of climbing ropes and compare the number I had with that. I still have the scene in the back of my head, so someday I will probably finish the research and add it.
