The British news media is so farcical.

Discussion in 'Entertainment' started by Ashley Harrison, Mar 9, 2016.

'The Sun' in the UK reports (I paraphrase the following) fans of 'Game of Thrones' panicked, when the death of George Martin was announced today and then were suddenly relieved to find out it wasn't the author, George R.R. Martin that had died but actually, the man known as 'The Fifth Beatle' Sir George Martin.

So then by inference, nobody gives a s**t now right? Top level British journalism strikes again, well done.

Here is one thing in which America is still - by far - #1!! I watch a lot of U.K. programming and news, and it is starting to look and feel a lot more like ours (not a good thing), but, well.... I'll let Russel Howard show the difference. ;)

BTW, Russell Howard is a snogalishes little man-boy.

There used to be a clear delineation between a newspaper and a gossip rag, now they have both morphed into one. I don't know if I'm reading a broadsheet or 'The National Enquirer' sometimes? You can't fit a cigarette paper between the two nowadays. :) Thank you for uploading the video, it illustrates the point perfectly.

Judging British media by the Sun is like judging US media by E! News

The Daily Mail is basically the UK version of Fox News, am I correct?

I'm a Brit., much of our press is presently on a propoganda mission— inciting xenophobia and over-facing us with the shenanigans of sexual deviants :meh: So I'm a turncoat it seems; to fess my fave read for now is 'The New Yorker'. Sanctuary.

At least no one is expected to take E! News seriously.

'The Morning Star' is a much better form of journalism, that still exists in this country.

I don't expect anyone to take The Sun seriously, either.

The Daily Mail is made entirely of bitchiness, fascism and propaganda. Unfortunately a lot of people do take this one seriously, because they're a lot better at it than The Sun is.

The newspapers aren't all that bad, people just like a scapegoat.

Anything that's owned by Rupert Murdoch, or even by association with him can't be expected to be taken seriously. Sadly people buy 'The Sun' and 'The Times' everyday.

I've given it a wee peek, looks promising—thanks. The unqualified geek in me though would love to see a 'Tech' section.

Who on earth takes The Sun seriously, c'mon? Sure, be appalled at the shitty quality that is The Sun, but let's not pretend anyone thinks that's serious journalism. I think those who do are very much in the minority (or so I hope).

Ranting about The Sun being crap is like telling us McDonald's ain't healthy. It's honestly no surprise!

However it is true that whenever I read anything about the UK these days, it further convinces me I should stay put where I am (out of the country). Which is a shame 'cause I'd really like to go back :( but so far everything points to Prague being a much better place to live. I also wish the health system worked a bit better in the UK...

The only papers we buy these days is The National during the week and The Herald on Sunday.

It's a tabloid people! Need I say more? Do you consider the National Enquirer a reliable source of information?
Rupert Murdoch is a complete c&£t (allegedly).
