    Describing posters? yay or nay?

Discussion in 'Setting Development' started by Daemon Wolf, Jul 26, 2015.

So in my book I currently have two posters being described which I am using as a way of foreshadowing events and a way to kind of give a hint of what my book is ultimately about. The posters I used was 'The Time Machine' 2002 film poster and the 'Blade Runner' poster. I was just wondering if there was anything against being able to do that?

This would not be a problem as long as you're not trying to claim anything as your own that someone else created. You are using a writing device called allusion. This is actually done quite often and is a good tool to add familiarity for readers.
