Hey all, I'm Tuomas. I've been in the game industry for 15+ years here in Finland. I've done game design, programming, art and audio, but I feel like I've never been good at storytelling or world building. That's why I'm now finally looking into writing, to primarily expand my capability of making my games better, and secondarily to gain a new hobby to fill in the void created by boredom. I need long projects that I can think about when I wake up, in the shower, when I drive a car, when I go to sleep and so on. Creating my own story or a world could bring that depth. Anyway, I've only so far done a few Finnish writing exercises and just now finished my first two-page fantasy short story. I was hoping to show it in this forum to get some initial feedback, but I noticed there's a requirement to first give two "critiques" to other people before I can share it. Could someone explain that to me? Does that basically mean to just give feedback for other writers as posts on existing threads? Thanks.
Hi Tuomas! Welcome to the forum. As in so many cases of people for whom English is a second language, your English is stunningly good—so that's one writing hurdle already jumped. As for your questions, I would suggest you check out these two forum sites, both written by former Moderators/Administrators. Good luck! I hope you get helpful feedback when you do post your story. I'll keep an eye out for it myself.
