I am Fervidor! I am the world's greatest writer! Aside from my mastery of storytelling, I am also quite the guy. I sing like an angel, dance like the devil, and I have really nice hair. I have no weaknesses, except possibly for my delusions (?) of grandeur.
Greetings. Seen your posts. I’ve seen your posts and you seem to have already settled in rather well! Already.. you’re family. *jokes*
Me? I just have delusions.... Hi, Fervidor! We've already connected on at least one thread, but as one of the moderators here, I want to extend a warm welcome to you. You're already interacting well, so you're off to a great start. It's important that people get to 'know' you and you get to know them as well. It's what makes this into a community, rather than just a notice board—and you've already got the hang of it. If you haven't had a chance yet, please do read these two important links. They contain the whys and wherefores of how the forum operates. New Member Quick Start and Forum Rules If you encounter any problems while you're getting settled in, don't hesitate to 'start a conversation' with me, and I'll do my best to help. Meanwhile, I look forward to seeing you around the threads. Cheers for now, Jan
Thanks. Not my first rodeo when it comes to message boards, so I think I have a fairly good idea of how this all works. I did look through the rules, and it seems to be pretty much what I'd usually expect. Not to worry, I tend to be quite well-behaved. Really, the only thing I'm wondering about for now is what's up with the edit function on my messages. I seem to be able to edit a post for a while after making it, but then the function is disabled at some point?
I do believe that's the case until you become a full member, but I'll ask our Admin computer expert and get back to you.
Yes, @Fervidor, your ability to edit posts is limited until you become a full Member. Here is the direct quote from Komposten, our Administrator: "New Members have a 25-minute window to edit their posts. Once they graduate to Member status the limit should disappear."
It's actually to discourage spammers. Keeps them from doing certain things they like to try to do, just after joining the forum! Trust me on this. It does make sense. The things I learned, being a Mod....
I'll take your word for it, then. At any rate, good to know it's only temporary. I tend to write fairly wordy posts and often make various typos and errors, which I then obsessively edit away whenever I notice them.
Yes, I'm the same. I hate Facebook messages because you can't edit them once you've sent them. I'm a compulsive word-changer. I feel your pain! But it's temporary ...and it is necessary.
