First person prologue, followed by third person.

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by Francis de Aguilar, Aug 24, 2021.

I have just written an opening to a book in first person, but want to switch to third for the rest. Wondering if I can have a first person prologue followed by a third person story? Has this been done?

Yeah, plenty of times. You'll often see first person interludes between sections, too, which functiom kind of like additional prologues. No Country for Old Men and Perdido Street Station (China Mieville) spring immediately to mind, but I've seen dozens more.
