    good gift for a writer

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by deadrats, Aug 13, 2023.

A good friend of mine has a book coming out soon and I wanted to get her something because I am so proud of her and I know how long and hard she worked on it. She is a really good friend. I would love to get her something a little related to reading or writing, but it obviously can't be a book. I was sort of thinking something along the lines of a silver bookmark with an engraving. Not exactly that. I don't know if that's even a real thing. Anyway, I thought some of you might have ideas. Appreciate any help offered.

A classy pen (which can also be engraved) with a card on which you request the first thing she writes with the pen is an inscription on your copy of her book?

Fancy book ends. I like the heavy ones but they cost more. You'll have to know how many books she crams together, I guess.

This one's $40 on Amazon, and it's pretty cool. As an example.

That looks like a sliced geod. May rock shops will have book ends like this. Likely a bit cheaper.

It is a sliced dyed geode. My husband is a recovering geologist and an unrepentant rock hound and lapidary who has made a lot of the undyed variety. They actually do a nice job of holding up books if they are large enough.

Maybe something nice to wear to book signing events? I am always happy when someone gives me special earrings.
