    Hi, everyone!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by lady_rivers, Jul 23, 2021.

    Hello, everyone!

I'm Penelope, and I've always loved storytelling. I'm from the beautiful and often sunny Rio de Janeiro (we're dealing with a cold front now, so for our standards is really cold), so my native language is Portuguese.

I'm excited to take the next step in my writing: allowing people to read it. I think I've finally reached that point where my desire to have it out in the world and feedback is greater than the fear of judgement.

I hope this will be as fun as my last forum experience. :)

Well, with a name like Rivers, you can't possibly go wrong.
Already I can tell you're a beautiful person of integrity, wit, honour, and amazing talent and creativity... How I don't know... I can't possibly imagine what makes me think that ;)

But in all seriousness, it's great you're making the big bold step of letting others read your work. Regardless of if you want to do this professionally or as a hobby, it's always the most daunting part of progressing as a writer, so good on you.
As well as that, there's not nearly enough South Americans around here, if you ask me.

What genres and/or types of stories do you like to write, Penelope, if you don't mind me asking?

    Welcome to the forums btw!

Us flowing bodies of water have to stick together, right?

I'd love to write professionally some day. I've been going back and forth on stepping towards it for years, and then it hit me that whatever sense of "I'm not good enough yet" that was holding me back was absurd. The feeling may or may not have got stronger after the Game of Thrones finale.

I write primarily romance. I think it may be result of growing up with the romcoms in the 90s. I also love the slice of life short stories.
