Greetings to all and Happy New Year. I'm Nemo Nusquam, itinerant writer and daydreamer. I've been writing for about sixteen years now--with varying degrees of commitment--but I've been creating stories since I have use of memory. When writing in English I mainly stick to speculative fiction; Fantasy, Scifi and Horror. When writing in Spanish I tend to lean more toward Magical Realism and the "Literary" (which is more of a quality than a genre, I believe, but you catch my drift). Beginning my journey way back when, I used to lurk this forum so much for tips and pointers. So this introduction feels more like a homecoming to me. Looking forward to join the conversation. Best of luck this 2024!
Welcome to the forum Will you be contributing work in this genre? You can also explain your avatar. This thread https://www.writingforums.org/threads/explain-your-profile-picture.153688/
Right back at you! (though a little late, sorry) So—would yoiu say you're more like Captain Nemo, or Little Nemo? One thing I can say about it—it was drawn by Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy and graphic artiste extraordinaire.
I am currently writing the backlog for a Fantasy serial (which, hopefully, I can start publishing in about a month) and about to start with the backlog for a Sci-fi one. My plan is to write these for some years to come in order to hone my writing skills. I'll let you guys know once I start posting them. Both awesome namesakes, to be fair. Let's not forget the fish. And you have a keen eye, sir. Bravo! Mignola, along with del Toro, have been huge influences on me.
Ah, El espinazo del diablo. Watched this as a kid and I couldn't sleep for an entire summer. Thank you, Mr. del Toro.
G'day and welcome from Australia*, Nemo! ________________ * Yes, the land of the Giant Spiders, the Drop Bears, the Hell Sheep, and so on. 'Tis the land where everything tries to kill you. Except maybe the sheep. And we're not sure about them. Still ... no worries, eh?
