Howdy ya'll. I'm extremely pleased to have the opportunity to interact with other writers on this forum. It has been a great while since I've shared my writings with others. Many years ago I regularly took part in poetry slams and that captivated my writing time for years. Do to my experience with poetry, I'm now nervous about attempting a story instead. The additional pressure of having to use proper grammar, after years of horrid neglect of the structure leaves me a bit timid. I'd like to use this forum as a tool to craft a series of adventures with colorful characters. Any help and guidance that the community can provide me along the way would be incredibly appreciated. - Sincerely Jack
Jack, Thanks for joining. Your grammar skills will return. It may be helpful to study the sentence/paragraph structure on occasion, as you're re-reading a favorite story or novel. Why a re-read? Because studying while trying to enjoy a tales sometimes inhibits that bit of fun and interest. Terry
The thing to keep in mind Jack is it's best to get the nuts and bolts of the story first, then work on editing it to grammar perfection, especially when first going at it. When first writing stories, it's easy to start umming and aahing, editing your work bit by bit as you go and then kicking yourself when it doesn't come out perfect. It bogs you down from continuing to write the actual story and seems to be why a lot of newer writers give up. So don't beat yourself up over minor grammar mistakes as you go, you can spend as long as you want and even get help to fix that after. Keep on at the content and progressing the story if possible. It should keep the imagination burning away and expend less energy on worry. Welcome to the forums btw!
