Hi everyone, I’m so excited I found this forum, I LOVE forums. Their replacement by social media and Discord has saddened me, but I am so happy to see that they have not entirely disappeared. Regarding writing, I focus on Fantasy and Science Fiction. I’ve enjoyed writing since I was a teenager, but I got more serious about it a few years ago. Unfortunately, I am not a native speaker (I have a couple of short stories published in my native language), and I really really want to improve at writing in English; 80% of what I read is in English, I live in an English-speaking country, my partner is English... I just need to switch my hobby to English, and life would be perfect I’ve created a sort of method to help me improve my fluency in English (I realised I’m shit at active vocabulary, commas and glue words - not even talking about grammar mistakes), and I hope criticising other people’s writing will help me improve faster. So... please do not hesitate to let me know if I have made any grammar mistake. That would be AMAZING. Thank you very much, and I look forward to posting here! Elle
I was recently explained that there's a difference between "criticism" and "critique". Criticism is finding fault and condemning. Critique is reviewing a work and pointing out good and bad aspects. Glad to see you on the forum. I'm a SF fan myself.
Welcome, Elle. Kudos for writing in two languages! I'm working on writing in Spanish as well as English but don't have the nerve to seek out a Spanish-speaking writers' forum yet.
Interesting; I actually rather like Discord. But I hate social media, so we see eye-to-eye there. Your English is very good. Welcome. P.S. Could you give me my first tarot reading?
